A Greater Tabernacle With Jesus

One day the New Jerusalem will come down from heaven and those who are in Christ will be able to walk in God’s city among the angels, God, and the saints. This tabernacle is greater than all other tabernacles of old. Nothing will ever compare to its splendor. Even Jesus is our greater tabernacle, on whom we should set our sights upon. “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building.” (Hebrews 9:11) David knew of the coming of the Messiah and looked earnestly for His coming. As for his time on earth, the tabernacles were places where people could go to in order draw nearer to God and also walk in His presence. Just thinking about God and these tabernacles made David glad. He said, “how amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.” (Psalm 84:1,2)

David continued and said, “blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.” (Psalm 84:4,5) “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.” (Psalm 84:10-12) Surely, David is in paradise awaiting his time to enter New Jerusalem. How amazing it will be for him to be with the Messiah, Lord, God, and King, forever. Even Jesus, who is our greater tabernacle for all mankind. Those who trust in the Lord are blessed in this life and the next. These are those who are able to walk in righteousness and escape the darkness of this world. God lights up their lives and dwells among them. Amen.

Let us pray:
Blessed and honor to Your great Name, Jesus. I honor You, dear Lord. There is no one like You. I am blessed just to know You and have Your presence in my life. Keep me steadfast in doing Your will. My ears are open to You. I receive the wisdom that You would pour out upon me. My eyes can see. There is splendor and beauty in Your awesome presence. My heart longs to have You near me. And not only in this hour but every second, minute, hour, and day. Come and dwell a while with me. My hands are open wide and can feel Your heavenly touch. Take me by the hand and guide me safely home to paradise. May my soul rise to You when I eventually take my last breath. Up and away will I ascend to the heavenly realms on high. Your Spirit speaks truth to my heart and I will obey. I can see the importance of people’s souls and showing them compassion is the least I can do for them. It is Your Spirit in me that causes me to love one another. I love You, Jesus. You are blessed and holy. I lift You up high. Amen.

  1. Just trying to understand the difference between the tabernacle vs Jesus as our High Priest. The Tabernacle was a temporary place of worship, a place where sacrifice were made and the place where God was (in the Holy of Holies). His presence commanded both fear and comfort. Fear in that only the designated priest (Aaron) could enter into His presence. Comfort in that he was right there. Our High Priest is our righteousness. God seems us through him. He is our comfort and security. Now, what will be the purpose of the tabernacle in the Millennium or in the New Earth?
