Wicked people boast in themselves and their own mischief. Many think they are better than others because of their achievements. The goodness of God is for these people, but they reject Him because of their pride. Often they speak with much cursing and words that offend, even offending those in the faith. What they say is hurtful and still, people join in and laugh with them in the workforce. Therefore, they work deceitfully in the sight of God, instead of believing in Him and doing His will. This is because they love the treasures of this world instead of God. Many lies are spoken instead of the truth. It is written, “why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.” (Psalm 52:1-3) This is not the life of a Christian!
People often join in on conversations that put down others, instead of lifting up people around them. This derogatory speech is called a deceitful tongue in God’s eyes. These same people often mock God in how they talk to others, and in their taking of the Lord’s Name in vain. These are those who are wicked and whom God will destroy come death. These people may be rich in this life, but in the next, they will have nothing to show for themselves. Those who are righteous can see the truth. Therefore, they fear God in how they respect and obey Him. David continued and said, “thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him.” (Psalm 52:4-6) How is your life? Are you living for God? Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will learn to do Your will and not the will of the flesh. Satan’s tactics are real and easily given into without Your help. Falling victim to temptation is easy, but because Your Spirit is with me I run from the appearance of evil. Lord, I do this day in and day out, for You are my protector and my high tower. Surely, I am around wicked people every day in my workplace. They speak evil about their customers and vendors they work with. Cursing comes out of their mouths, instead of lifting up people. Lord, I know that many people on this earth would say that they are Christians. They say they believe in You and go to church, but many of these same people are the ones who are angry with others and speak with such disdain. You can change this God. Bring them to their knees in repentance. That they may get right with You. Crush their pride, that they may come to know You, Jesus. I love You, Lord. Amen.
