The most fascinating parts of the Bible are the many prophesies of Jesus in the Old Testament, and them coming to pass just as it was spoken of in times past. Psalm, chapter 8, speaks of Jesus coming into the world, being made a little lower than the angels. How later on in death, He received the crown of glory. There is so much to read and unpack in these verses about the Lord, our God. They read, “when I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:3-9)
Paul helps us understand what David was speaking of when it comes to the son of man, as we know to be Jesus. Through His death and sacrifice on the cross, we are saved. He wrote, “but one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” (Hebrews 2:6-9) Truly, Jesus is God. He came down from heaven being born from a virgin in Bethlehem. He lived a perfect life as only the Lord could do, and in His death, we are redeemed through His blood. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will understand the importance of the cross and what it means for us. How because of our faith in You, we can be redeemed through Your blood. You are the Prince of Peace. All things were made through Your hands. You are our judge, creator, and Redeemer of the world, Jesus. You are so humble to be made lower than the angels while living on earth. You didn’t have to come down or go through with Your sacrifice on the cross, but You did so anyways to fulfill all righteousness. There is no other person who has ever lived that has made a bigger impact in this life, but You Lord. You may have lived a little over thirty years, but to have You, God, with us is extraordinary and out of this world amazing. I wish I could have lived in that timeframe. I know that life would have been harder, but just to be in Your physical presence would have been all I needed in life. You are all I need Jesus. I can’t wait till the day I will be with You in heaven. I will humbly kneel before my God and my King. I love You. Amen.
