Happy Father’s Day to every father on earth and to our Father in heaven. Much thanks for what you are doing for your family. Yes, I thank every dad who has children and who is also raising them up to know the Lord. I also thank our Father in heaven for His many blessings and for saving me. And as for this message, we will look at four different passages of scripture. So enjoy them as I quote them now. The Lord God said the following unto David, “I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.” (2 Samuel 7:14,15) God will chasten us when we fall into sin, but His mercy never fails us when we get back up and confess and forsake our sins. He is such a good Father to us. David spoke of the Father and said, “for as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.” (Psalm 103:11-13) I love how God removes our iniquities, even from the east to the west as we learn to fear Him. Through respecting the Lord, our God, surely our sins are forgiven. Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Father.
Solomon spoke of the Lord and fathers alike when he wrote, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.” (Proverbs 1:7-9) The instructions given by our father are very important, but what our mother teaches us is also very important to us. Just remember how they diligently raised you up to be a man or woman, while also helping you know the Lord. Paul said the following about children and their fathers. “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:1-4) It is a commandment given by God, our Father, for children to obey both their father and mother. We cannot pick favorites, for they both equally deserve our love and respect. Lastly, as Fathers, remember to not do things that cause your children to be upset with you or others, but bring them up in the admonition and nurture of the Lord. This is so important, as fathers. Remember your responsibility as a father and to cling to your Father above.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will continue to be nourished by our father on earth and especially You, God. I am grateful for what my earthly father has taught me and raised me to become and know. He may have passed away, but he will never be forgotten. Surely, he is in a better place now. It is hard to believe all the grandchildren he and my stepmother has now. She may be alone, but still has all her children so close to her. I love my time with my second mother and am grateful to have her in my life still. My mother may have passed away also, but I still remember her and my father like it was yesterday. Lord, You have blessed me with the most loving parents. It is just sad that I cannot call my father up and tell him Happy Father’s Day. I can tell my brothers, who are fathers, and that is awesome, of course. I just know that this life is short. It is like a vapor. We are here one day and not the next. Even with my wife and my young girls, I love them to pieces. However, I just don’t know much longer I will be with them. I pray that I have been a good father to my children and that they remember the things I’ve taught them. May they never forget the importance of knowing You, Jesus. I pray that my children and my wife will come to a saving knowledge of what You have done for them. I am Your child and pray that my wife and my kids will also be in heaven with me when I eventually pass on from death to life. I believe in You, Lord. I trust in You. I love You. Amen.
