There is a grave sin that is upon the earth today. It did not exist two thousand years ago in the times of Jesus, nor did it exist one thousand years ago, or even five hundred years ago. The thing is, the most sinful thing that is plaguing the earth today wasn’t even around one hundred years ago, let alone fifty. But since the turn of the century when the internet came mainstream, that is when we saw glimpses of one of the greatest sins of all mankind. It is the same sin that is taking, I believe, more people to hell than any other. You may have guessed it by now. I am speaking of pornography. Now that internet has matured and people use their smartphones to access the internet on the go, people now look at this filth wherever they are. What is sad is that this is the #1 searched term on google and other search engines. And you wouldn’t think that this sin has plagued God’s church, but it has in a big way. I am not saying that I am free of Satan’s temptations, for I was once hooked on porn for years. However, my life is difficult now. Â I more often than not put myself in places where temptations are less. For example, I do not watch much TV, and when I do, I watch things that would welcome the Holy Spirit, not deter it. Because God is in my life now, I spend more time in God’s Word the Bible daily, and my prayer time has been increased too. So if I do have temptations to look at pornographic images and videos, I pray that God would lead me from temptation, that I may not fall. This helps alot.
As for people in the church, just listen to what Paul told us when it comes to lust. People are only given over to pornography because of the lust in their hearts and minds. He said, “furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God.” (1 Thessalonians 4:1-5) If people simply learned to walk in a way that pleased God, then these urges to look at pornography would stop. This is because the person is abounding more and more in His love. This is where darkness cannot have any place in us. In a sense, when we submit ourselves to Jesus and begin to seek His face daily, that is when He comes into our lives and scatters the darkness. This way His abundant light may enter in instead. In so doing, He does a deep cleaning in our souls, that we may begin to do His will instead of the lusts of the flesh. He even gives us new desires, which is truly amazing to witness. When we are sanctified by the blood of Jesus, this is when we learn to abstain from porn. If you are involved with pornography, come to Jesus in all your confessions. He will forgive you.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will find You in all their trials and temptations in life. This includes me, God. As much as others, I need Your help in every sticky situation that life takes me. So lead us from temptation, Lord. Take us by the hand, that the fiery darts of the enemy will not faze us or take us down. A grave sin that You are well aware of is pornography, and I am afraid that millions of people are on their way to hell because of it. It surely tarnishes our spiritual life and makes us feel empty inside each time we look at it. It makes us feel like You would never forgive a sinner like us. How wretched and filthy we become in Your holy and magnificent sight. All I know from these types of feelings is that it is the enemy feeding on our sinful state. He loves it when we have left You and choose to be fed by our lusts instead. It is so terrible to feel this way and I am so grateful that You broke me free from this addiction to pornography. You heard my cries and came in and scattered the darkness. If any evil spirits abounded, they were no more in the name of Jesus. Thank You, God. You are with me now and fill me up in the Spirit. What a great God I serve. All I ask of You now is to never leave me and to be my protector at all times in life. Do not let me be in a place that I am vulnerable to do something that I will regret later. Lead me from temptation. I believe in You. I trust in You, Jesus. I love You. Amen.
Amen amen amen! Porn is the indeed the deadliest sin of this generation and it needs to stop right now.
