There Is No Marriage In Heaven

The topic of marriage is important for every person that wants to spend their life with the one they love. Therefore, engagement happens and the marriage ceremony is set in motion. This is a time to celebrate, for God has blessed them to be with their one true love. This is truly the beginning of a new life. Sure, each marriage has their struggles and kids can be tough, but with Christ in their lives, are able to endure these difficult times. And with God’s peace, these couples grow closer to each other, as years go on. Now, as we get older, questions will arise about our current marriage and if it will last, while in heaven. For who wouldn’t want to continue a good marriage after they die? Speaking of this question, most Christian churches should have the answer the couple is seeking. And this is because the answer is written in three different accounts in the Bible. More specifically, it was recorded in Matthew 22, Mark 12 and Luke 20. Opening to any of these passages would be helpful. A LINK to those verses is HERE. So any pastor, priest or bishop should be able to help anyone with this question through the Word of God. However, it is because people disregard God’s Word, is that false doctrines are brought into churches and people are led to believe in something that is not true at all.

■ We will now look at Luke 20, and see what Jesus said about marriage in heaven. And then we will discuss this further. So let us now read from the verses below…

Luke 20:27-40 (KJV)
27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
32 Last of all the woman died also.
33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

To be clear about what Jesus said, when speaking to the Sadducees, our marriages do not last past death. The Lord answered their questions concerning this woman, who had multiple husbands, and taught that in the resurrection, there is no marriage. Why is this? It is because, when we get to heaven, we are as the angels, who are not given into marriage. It doesn’t matter if we have a marriage certificate on earth, this does not hold value in heaven. So what is heaven like then, if people are not married? Well, all we know is that it will be amazing and those that believe in and follow Jesus will be there. Will we be able to see and spend time with our earthly wife, kids and family, that have passed on? Maybe so, but it is only speculation. However, if each person in your family, including your wife and kids, love the Lord, their God with all their hearts and walk in His ways, then they will be with you in heaven. It is up to God, how people interact with each other in heaven, as people do remember things. One thing that needs to be put to rest is the belief of eternal marriages. The Mormons teach this, although Jesus has already shot this one down. If you are a true Christian, then you will side with the Lord God and not any man, who says they are a prophet. Do not be deceived, but hold tight to the Bible and pray for direction from God.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am grateful just to know You and to know that I am led by the one true God who saves. There is no more questioning things and wondering what is right and what is wrong any more. It is because I stand firm upon Your Word, in the Bible, that I have direction. I know how deceived people can get, if they stop reading Your words, and instead trust in man-made teachings over Yours. When this happens, the veil of darkness goes over people’s faces, and truth is unable to be scene. This is when a person begins to trust in their prophet or what their pastor, bishop or priest is saying, instead of going to the source of truth. I say these things, Lord, because I was a victim to this for many years, while in the Mormon faith. Instead of confiding in Your teachings, that are written in scripture, my thoughts and desires were elsewhere. And what is sad is that I would bear my testimony of the things I knew, in order to have true Christians stop trying to teach me. It was me blocking them out, when You were only trying to use these messengers to convict me of my sins. I was so lost and could not even see it. Now Lord, I am so grateful that You never gave up on me. It took time, but finally I found the answers in the Bible and through prayer. The veil has been lifted and I am set on the right path. Thank You Lord. I am made new through Your mercy and grace. I love You. Amen.

  2. Both Luke 20 and the marriage vows themselves, “Till death us do part”, clearly show that human marriage is a contract for mortal life only.
If the children of this world want to become children of the world to come (Matthew 19:29) it is humanly harder to put aside your family than leaving a church you were born into.
Mahatma Gandhi because of Indian culture married at 13 years of age. But as he grew in wisdom with age he saw the beauty of Luke 20:34-36.
From the age of 36 he refrained from sexual relations with his wife. His heart was no longer divided into parts among his wife and children but was singular toward God and neighbour. His family became more his neighbours than his family. This was all the more incredible since he remained officially Hindu.
