The Word of God declares that we are in the last days. 2 Timothy, chapter 3, speaks of our day, as if Paul saw it firsthand. Please read what he said and ponder it in your hearts. Then you will know that people like this fill our streets, homes, businesses and churches every day. These verses may refer to men but women are also in this wayward category. Paul said, 4“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Isn’t that the truth. Sure, if you have your blinders on, you won’t see the truth in this prophecy. Only the Holy Spirit will help you know what is sin and what is not. If you are among those people that Paul spoke out about, then you are practicing that which is evil. 5And evil doers will have their place in the lake of fire. It is so important that we understand that we are sinners and repent, before it is too late. Jesus can save us but we must make an effort on our own to confess our sins and desire a change of heart. Let us now look at what Paul said more in depth.
There is only wickedness in a person’s heart when they seek their own pleasures over God. Isn’t it true that on the news, media and on the streets, do we see so many people as 4“lovers of their own selves”. Self-fulfillment is vital to every commercial on TV. Selfie sticks are all the rage. And what is the purpose? It is to show off yourself and what you are up to. It is a me, me type of mindset. Often times they covet what they don’t have, so that they can look better. They boast in what they are up to on social media and YouTube. Oh the pride that is in their hearts. They blaspheme God in the way they act. What is sad is that some of them have good parents but still they disobey what they have been taught. I says some because many parents do not teach their children in the ways of God and have no guidance in what is right and what is wrong. When I see from these people is a desire for more and more. They never have enough. They are not thankful for what they have. Oh how I wish that God’s light would shine down upon them, that they may understand how deep they are in sin. God desires holiness in each of us, but in this generation only what is unholy do people live to the extreme. They live to have a good time. And among them are those that live the homosexual lifestyle. These are those that are 4“without natural affection”. 2For if they were, they would be obeying God’s commands to marry as husband and wife. And this is only half of what’s wrong with our society.
Among the people we live with everyday are those that lie for their own gain. Sometimes for a laugh and other times to manipulate another. These people can’t even control their actions when they get carried away. Because the Spirit of God is not leading them, they do what they know and love. Even when it hurts. In certain situations they falsely accuse others of things they do, lest they get in trouble for their action. At the same time, their conscience is speaking out of their sins, but they deny it nonetheless. When approached about their lifestyle, they can very uptight and aggressive. You have to watch out, lest they act out in a bad way. When approached by a good Christian or preacher, they take their words as judging. They despise those people and see them as self-righteous. But do they act this way towards God’s children? No. They also turn their back on people they know and love. These people cannot be trusted. They mock the things of God and lift up the things of this world. Their arrogance in things of God are sad but true. And they do all this because they are 4“lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.” There is a warning from God to all those that desire to live for the lusts of the flesh. Hell is real and is the destination for everyone that chooses to live apart from God. Among them are church goers that 4“have a form of godliness” in their lives through church. But because they deny the power of God, for true transformation of the body, they turn away also.
Please understand that just because the majority of people are not living for God, it does not have to be you. This generation we live in is wicked but there are also some that know God personally and live their lives for Him. They find more joy in the Lord than anything else this life could over. They are so blessed to be forgiven. Truly their peace is in God. They understand what salvation means. It means to, one day, be forever in heaven with their Lord and King. His love reigns supreme over all His kingdom. 6There will be no more tears or sorrow. All the pains are gone. This is because only goodness resides in the kingdom of God. 1However, only the pure in heart will see God. Those that are made righteous in Christ the Lord are welcomed in. On the other hand, all evil doers are shut out forever. As the believers of the Lord are living a life of joy, the wicked are punished in hell. Where there is fire and brimstone. The people there are filled with heartache and sadness. 3They gnash their teeth because of their suffering. It is a terrible place of torment. Nobody that has ever gone to hell would ever want stay there. Do you see the importance of your salvation? Do not put off the day of your repentance any longer. Be made clean by the blood of Jesus. Only by submitting your lives to Him will you find mercy. His grace is upon those that believe in Him and do what He says. Will you follow Jesus?
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am so grateful to be brought out of this world. I was so filthy for way to many years. There was truly no hope for me. All my fears had gone wild for the life I was living. There was no true love that existed. My lusts brought me temporary joy but always pain and regret. Sorrow took over and brought sadness to my soul. To think that I thought I was lost forever, until I found You. Thank You for hearing my cries and taking me away from the evils in my life. I needed love that lasted and You brought it. Thank You for hearing my confessions and leading me on the right path. I am so grateful for Your mercy. My life had no meaning but now I am alive. You have breathed new life into my soul. My sins are washed away and I am a new man. If I have hope, it is because of You Jesus. You have replaced all my sorrow with gladness. I am filled with Your strength. Thank You Lord. I am blessed to know You and to follow You. I love You. Amen.
