When you hear the word praise, what does that mean to you? Do words such as glorify, worship, honor, rejoice or give thanks come to mind? These are considered action words. It is our feelings and desires towards God and not man that lead to such worship. We don’t only say we believe in God, but we go to Him often and praise Him. As Christians, we ought to praise the Lord God in all things. 3As we have breath, praise the Lord. As David spoke of many times in Psalms, It is more than taught but a devotion, in His life towards God. After God came back into His heart, He could not help but praise the Lord, for 1“His mercy endures forever”. The Lord was so gracious enough to forgive Him, though He was a sinner. This resonated in His heart, in so much, as to declare the mercy of our God to everyone. It no longer became an inward experience but an outward expression of His love for God, and to all men. David declared, 2“Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.” He goes on to say why He praises the Lord and gives thanks. Speaking of the Lord, he declares, 2“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” He saw the compassion of God, and for this, praised the Lord. His heart was healed and no more scars were left open, for the Lord God had cleansed Him from all iniquity.
If you just understood the glory of God, you’d be reaching for His hand, every day of your life. You would no longer distance yourself from Him, but seek Him often in prayer and in His Word. And how can you come to a realization of the Lord’s mighty power? All it takes is to look at the world around you. The God we serve is our great creator. 2“He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.” Even as there are billions of stars, there has been more or else that many people that have ever lived on this earth and He knows us all by name. How majestic is our God. Great is His glory. 2“Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” Because the Lord knows us and loves us so much, He also has prepared a way for us to find true happiness. Those that discover the Lord, are healed from all their sins. They are washed clean. His peace is able to come into their lives and bring them great joy. These are those that are open to God’s teachings and His promptings in their lives. It is taught that 2“the Lord lifteth up the meek.” Everyone that has discovered the Lord, and come into His light, are forever changed. Their hearts and minds are given over to the Lord, because of their love for Him. If you desire to follow Jesus, then also 2“sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God.” May your hope be in mercy, forevermore.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, it is so good to come to You and praise Your holy Name. You are so kind to me. Even when I don’t deserve it, You continue to call after me and have mercy upon my soul. There is nothing life Your love. Your compassion is like no other. Thank You for allowing me into Your presence. Thank You for making a way that I may be saved. Thank You for Your mercy.
