We can do so many great things in this life but it means nothing if it isn’t for God’s will. If it isn’t the will of God acting in your life than your good acts do not please Him. We often get so preoccupied with things in life that take our time away from Him. These things are idols that are only keeping us back from the Lord. We must let God tear these things out of our hearts and give back to Him through His will and not ours. There are many self-righteous people who do everything they can to fulfill their callings in church. These people stand out for the many good works they are doing. They may even preach sermons from the Word of God. All these things are not bad but if these men and women are not led by the Holy Spirit it is not from God. Our words and actions alone will never lead a person to salvation with Jesus. Nothing we could ever say can help a non-believer come to Jesus, if Jesus is not in our hearts. Those in the faith will not be comforted if the Holy Spirit is missing. The key is to open our mouths and let the Spirit fill them. Then Jesus can take the wheel and prick the person’s heart and lead them to follow Him. Seek the counsel of God and let Him direct your paths. Jesus said, 1“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Only by following in the footsteps of God can we be saved.
What matters is our relationship with Jesus. We can work all we want to but if He isn’t in our hearts than it is all for not. After death, the wicked will be judged. 2Their own works will be brought up but they will have no meaning to the Lord. People will plead and plead for what they thought they were doing was good. Many will be in tears for they thought they honored God for the lives they lived. Jesus taught, 1“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” How sad it will be to see these people and to hear the Lord give justice to them. If you are not giving God your time, start today. If you are serving in your church, they do so by the will of God. Let God speak through you. Let the Lord be an instrument in your lives. Remember that our works will not save us but what we do for the will of God. Only by doing His will can we come to know Jesus personally. Pray often that you may be filled with the Spirit. Read the Bible daily that you may know His words.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, lead me to do Your will. Take away every bad way in my life. Let Your good works overflow in my life. Speak through me Lord. You have my heart. I wish to know You better each day. Help me to live for You. I love You. Amen.
