Can we expect God to forgive us if we are living in sin? There is a difference between understanding that we are a sinner and needing God’s grace and living in sin. If we say we love God but live in sin we are lying at the core and God’s wrath is upon us. These people love the pleasures of the world and not God. They’d rather do things to please themselves than to walk in His ways. Time for prayer and Bible study doesn’t exist or is rare. This day, we live in, is full of hypocrites. Those that say they believe in God but their hearts are far from Him. Their hearts are filthy in His sight. On the outside they may appear good but their minds are full of deceit and lust for one another. In secret, they are into pornography. As Jesus taught, “whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”. In God’s eyes, they are committing adultery. Others may drink alcohol and be merry. Jesus spoke of people like this that say, “And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee”. One day, all those that willfully reject God’s commandments will be accountable to God in judgement. Because they didn’t repent of their sins they will have to pay for their own sins in hell. Their souls will be required there.
In Hebrews, we learn that “if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins”. Having the knowledge of the ten commandments and then willfully breaking them is sinning against God. The time to repent is now. Inspect your lives before God and tear out anything that is unholy. Come to Jesus. Confess your sins and forsake them. Tell Him you are sorry. Put your trust in Him and He will break your chains and bring you into His love. Those that love Jesus, turn from their sins and walk in His ways. They receive the truth and repent. To be called a Christian is to love the Lord and keep His commandments. They hate even the sight of sin. However, if they do sin they are convicted of what they’ve done and repent. They are quick to turn from their evil ways. Since the Lord is so important to them they could never live apart from Him. They are most happy when living in His holiness than the world. His love fulfills their lives. Thank You Lord for declaring the truth to me. You have convicted my heart and brought into the light all my wickedness. Though I was wretched, You found favor with me. In repentance, I felt your sweet mercy. I am amazed by Your compassion and that You could find a way to forgive me. Keep me in Your ways, Oh Lord. Keep me on the path of righteousness. I love You.
Matthew 5:27,28 (KJV)
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Luke 12:19-21 (KJV)
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
Hebrews 10:26-31 (KJV)
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
