In trials, come to God for deliverance. Never stand alone for He is able to bear us up when we need Him the most. Even when circumstances seem unbearable, peace can be felt when we come to the Lord in prayer. When we discover that we can’t live solely on our own needs and need a Savior, God will be there for us. The Lord is willing to give us strength if we just give Him our time and call on His Name. He is able to do mighty miracles in our lives if we open our hearts to Him. When Hagar was cast out into the wilderness with only bread and water she was scared. She didn’t see how she could raise up her child Ismael without starving to death. In her tears, she called upon God, “Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.” In this darken hour she heard the voice of the angel of God saying, “What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.” God opened her eyes and “she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.” In times of need, God was there, and will do the same for us when we reach out to Him. He will stay close to us as we draw near to Him.
The times I felt I could do everything on my own were the toughest times in my life. I never had the best answers to my problems. In the end, depression kicked in until I decided to look past myself and to others. Giving room for other people in my life was the first step I needed to come to Christ. In fellowship with those that loved God, I came to understand the goodness that God could deliver me. I didn’t need to walk alone any longer. I didn’t need to stand alone in trials for the Lord would be there. Just like Hagar, I can cry out to God and He will lift me up. He will give me drink when I am thirsty. The love of God is fulfilling and I can never get enough of it. Oh Lord, Your love is the anchor of my soul. I am made strong daily in Your presence. I trust that You can do all things in my life. With You by my side I am strengthened. You are the light that guides me. You deliver me when times are difficult. You listen to me when I feel alone. Thank You for bearing peace to my heart in times of despair. Thank You for giving me comfort when times are hard. You continually fill me up with Your love. There is no one more merciful. Your forgiveness gives me hope. Though I am not perfect You lead me to live a better life. You are my Good Shepherd. Pull me closer to You daily. I love You.
Genesis 21:16-20 (KJV)
16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.
17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
