Joseph Smith purposely changed the King James Bible (KJV) with his own Joseph Smith Translation (JST). Every book of the Bible was changed, including Revelation. Speaking of Revelation 9:1, we see the following. In this verse, the KJV Bible doesn’t mention who has the key to the bottomless pit. However, the JST automatically assumes it is an angel and adds that word in instead of him. Why is this a problem? Substituting words like this, adds a man-made meaning where it has no right to. Doing this causes more people to believe in what a person says and not what the Bible intended. Therefore, people believe the person rather than what the Bible actually says. People’s trust in themselves surpasses their trust in God. This is what happens with every paraphrase Bible like this one, although this is the worst out there. All this because the JST is not even a translation but a rewritten KJV Bible. See below for details…
Revelation 9:1 (KJV)
1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
Revelation 9:1 (Joseph Smith Translation)
1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth. And to the angel was given the key of the bottomless pit.
What are the consequences of purposely changing the Bible? I am talking about adding to, taking away from the text, and rearranging the words? It means going to hell when the person dies. There will be much pain and torture, where there is much fire and brimstone. These are those who are continually thirsty, having no water to quench their thirst. All this because God’s plagues have fallen upon them. In judgement, they will find out that their name is blotted out of the Lamb’s book of life. They will be told by King Jesus, our God, that “He never knew them.” “Depart from me.” This is when they will be sent off to the Lake of Fire. Just imagine receiving a resurrected body, having it go into the flames of fire, all for the purpose of dying again. This is when people experience a second death. Forever in pain and sorrow, these people like Joseph Smith will remain here and suffer. My friends, just because a person doesn’t believe in hell, it doesn’t mean people don’t go there. Don’t go astray. See more below…
“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18-19)
“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:12-15)
I have a wonderful relationship with Jesus Christ as a member of his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Please, be happy with your choice and allow me to be happy with mine. Your truth is not everyone else’s truth. I know without a shadow of a doubt that the church I belong to is the Lord’s church, so why would I resign? I appreciate your concern but no thank you. I won’t resign!
