On April 6, 1836, Joseph Smith declared that the Lord God gave him a prophecy of the saints in Massachusetts’s receiving much wealth in this city. Even so much as saying that God would give this city over to them. To not concern themselves with any debt, for they will have ample amount of money to pay that off once the city is in their hands. This failed prophecy reads, “I, the Lord your God, am not displeased with your coming this journey, notwithstanding your follies. I have much treasure in this city for you, for the benefit of Zion, and many people in this city, whom I will gather out in due time for the benefit of Zion, through your instrumentality. Therefore, it is expedient that you should form acquaintance with men in this city, as you shall be led, and as it shall be given you. And it shall come to pass in due time that I will give this city into your hands, that you shall have power over it, insomuch that they shall not discover your secret parts; and its wealth pertaining to gold and silver shall be yours. Concern not yourselves about your debts, for I will give you power to pay them.” (Doctrine and Covenants 111:1-5) Did any of what we just read actually happen? No.
As you can see from the failed prophecy above, this is from their Doctrine and Covenants, of which the Mormons call scripture. This book is part of their standard works. They study it as God’s Word for mankind. However, as you can see, this book is indeed false, as it contains false prophecies. And not only this, but many other false prophecies are in the chapters and pages of this book, all from the mouth of Joseph Smith. The truth of the matter, concerning this failed prophecy, the Mormons church was heavily in debt when Joseph Smith said this. It is too bad, however, that they got no money as Joseph Smith promised them. There was no relief to their financial problems, which caused a lot of stress upon the people and their church at this time. On a side note, no treasure was ever discovered in Salem, nor did this city ever fall into the hands of the Mormons. Now, concerning this false prophecy. God has spoken and said, “when a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” (Deuteronomy 18:22) This speaks of Joseph Smith’s lies, saying God spoke to Him. His teachings are not to be trusted. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for the sake of the Mormon people. So many of them still look up to the man, Joseph Smith, when he is easily seen to be a false prophet and a con man. This is like people looking up to Hitler when we know He was a lunatic. His desires to kill off all the Jews was demonic and so is Joseph Smith’s radical teachings that now millions of people believe. Surely, Joseph Smith is nothing different but a charlatan, who has led millions of Mormons on the path of destruction. His atrocities are seen when people die and wake up in hell. Lord, wake these people up to their idolatry before death takes them. They look to a dead man as if he was You, Jesus, and many also believe that this same dead man will welcome them into heaven, which is a ridiculous belief. God, I love these people but only You can wake them up to follow You and not men who claim to be prophets. Surely, we can see these frauds by their evil deeds and false beliefs. Wake many of them up also to know You and to be willing to leave what is false behind for Your sake. I believe in You, Jesus. I trust in You, God. Amen.
