When we compare Isaiah, chapter 4, with 2 Nephi, chapter 14 we find some big issues with how Joseph Smith copied verses from the KJV Bible into the book of Mormon. One issue is “glory of Zion” instead of “glory”. The other is the word “defence”. Isaiah reads, “3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: 4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. 5 And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence. 6 And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.” (Isaiah 4:3-6) Here we see glory given to God. Also, “defence”, being used for the word “chuppah” in Hebrew. However, the proper word is “canopy”. The definition of canopy is a tent-like structure, which is in the representation of how God defends us from the storms of life.
The Book of Mormon’s plagiarized version of Isaiah 4 is below, “3 And it shall come to pass, they that are left in Zion and remain in Jerusalem shall be called holy, every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem — 4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning. 5 And the Lord will create upon every dwelling-place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for upon all the glory of Zion shall be a defence. 6 And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and a covert from storm and from rain.” (2 Nephi 14:3-6) Notice how glory does not refer to the Most High God, but to a place called Zion. This takes away from the glory of God and puts it on a place instead, which is idolatry. God deserves the glory, not any person or thing. The Lord God is also our protector and, like a tent or “canopy”, He defends us. Therefore Joseph Smith didn’t translate anything but simply copied and pasted the KJV Bible translation. This proves the book of Mormon false and Joseph Smith a false prophet. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh lord, I pray that people will come to enjoy Your Words in the Bible instead of wanting to change how it reads. Truly, what is written is a lamp unto my feet. You have changed me from the inside out just by staying connected to my reading on a day-to-day basis. Thank You for hearing my prayers these many years and for giving me wisdom each time I read. I love Your ways God and especially what You have said in the Bible. I often hear people say that they believe in You and how You are their Lord and Savior, but do they know what You have said? No. When asked about the Bible, many of them have one at home but never read it. This is so sad and leads me to believe that these people are unsaved, but wish they were. And so I wonder if people knew what the Bible says if they would go deeper with You or quit believing altogether. Many people are shy and do not want to give their lives to You with another person present and I pray that this was the case for this man I talked to yesterday. Lord, have Your way in his life. He knew what we were saying was true about You, Jesus, and now it is his opportunity to deny himself and come to the feet of the cross I pray for his salvation and for the salvation of many more people. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
