The God of the Bible has a no racism policy. He is a respecter of all persons, no matter their skin color. However, the God of Mormonism is very racist. He even caused a skin of blackness to fall upon people that were wicked in the Book of Mormon. It was later on that the black people could return to being white if they repented of their sins. This is very sick and wrong, for black lives matter, just as all other skin colors do. It is written, “and the gospel of Jesus Christ shall be declared among them; wherefore, they shall be restored unto the knowledge of their fathers, and also to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, which was had among their fathers. And then shall they rejoice; for they shall know that it is a blessing unto them from the hand of God; and their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a pure and a delightsome people.” (2 Nephi 30:5,6) This contradicts the Bible but goes right along with what Joseph Smith taught also about black people. The Bible says, “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” (John 7:24) “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)
With sadness, do I have to share the racism in Joseph Smith’s heart, which is the founder of Mormonism. “Having learned with extreme regret, that an article entitled, Free People of Color; in the last number of the Star has been misunderstood, we feel in duty bound to state, in this Extra, that our intention was not only to stop free people of color from emigrating to this state, but to prevent them from being admitted as members of the church.” (History of the Church, 1:378-379) “Had I anything to do with the negro, I would confine them by strict law to their own species and put them on a national equalization.” (History of the Church, 5:218-219) Does this sound like someone who was a respecter of people of all colors? Nope. Now it makes sense that we have these racist verses in their Book of Mormon because the writer was racist. This is in compared to the Bible that reads, “but the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7) There may not be racism in Mormonism today, but how it began and the racism in the Book of Mormon leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people in the Mormon church will come to a realization of their false teachings. I realize that many of them hate me for trying to show them the truth from the Bible, while exposing their false teachings. This is very sad, for all I’ve ever wanted was to pull these lost people out of the fire and to Your feet, Jesus, for salvation. It may appear to be pushing a belief system onto someone, but in reality, I am sharing Your truths with the power of the Holy Spirit. I can do nothing unless Your Spirit is with me. I am dead in my sins if You are not with me. Thank God, that You are real and have transformed my life. I was once lost in my sins until You pulled me out of it. Thank You, God. I am only one person out of billions of others. We all need Your help and guidance on a day-to-day basis. Have Your way in my life. Lead me to people who are ready to receive You into their lives. Not just for the moment, but a life that is willing to endure all life’s trials for Your sake, Jesus. Surely, a life with You is not easy, but worth it. I admit that I do not know everything, that is why I lean on You for wisdom each day of my life. I love You, Lord. Never leave me. Amen.
