There are people that understand things better than others. This being what they should be doing and not doing for God. This is because these types of people have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus and are now born again in baptism. Because they are now filled with the Holy Spirit, they are now ready and willing to what God commands. So they are often found seeking God each day in prayer, reading and studying the Bible, and doing God’s will. They may not be perfect, but in all things, they do unto the Lord. The Lord God is their first priority in life above all things. Do you know people like this? These are the kinds of people we see outside of church also seeking God. So in all that they do, they live unto the Lord. They can be found talking to people about Jesus and the gospel message, praying with others, being generous to and doing service for people in need, and simply showcasing their love towards their neighbor. You see, these people don’t just understand commands in life, but they put them into action also. This is how I live my life and I know that many other people also share this common born again lifestyle. As for a man in scripture that was like this, we can look to the kings of old. Even a man named Hezekiah would come to mind. It says that 1“he in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them. And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street, and said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.” (2 Chronicles 29:2-5) This is just the beginning of his devoted life, in restoring order to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem.
Hezekiah acted this way because he knew that God was angry against the wicked, and unless things were taken care of, it would not be good for him and his people. He also said, 1“it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us. My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.” (2 Chronicles 29:10,11) 1“Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the Lord: so they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end. Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the Lord, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.” (2 Chronicles 29:17,18) They then began to do their animal sacrifices also, 1“and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel.” (2 Chronicles 29:24) This was important until Jesus became the last sacrifice for sin, with His sacrifice for the sins of the world on the cross. After all this, “they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.” (2 Chronicles 29:30) This was no false god that they were giving worship to, but the Lord God Almighty. Praise the Lord that Hezekiah restored the land to follow God and obey His commandments once again. There are people now that are doing the same things. Now, the question is, are you one of these people? Please think about this. Unless you are born again, you 2“cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5)
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will understand the need to be born again. Surely, only people that are born again through water and the Holy Spirit can enter the kingdom of God. Therefore, this commitment to be baptized should be in the thoughts of all people that want to follow You, Jesus, but haven’t done so yet. For it is the day that we put on You, Jesus. We are then able to do things that we would not be able to do on our own will. It is because Your presence is now with us continually. Which is amazing. This is the gift that You have promised us, even the gift of the Holy Ghost. Lord, it is because You are with me, that I have no more desire to look at pornography, play violent video games, and even watch shows and movies that don’t uplift me to follow You. These things do not matter anymore in life. What matters is what I can do for Your kingdom, and if the things I am watching is not helping me in these efforts, I simply cast them aside. Nothing is better than to have Your blessings fall down upon me and those people around me. I love it when you are guiding the conversations I have with people. I love it when I can pray for someone with confidence that You will heal them. It is awesome to open my mouth and know that You are filling it with your words. Even the miracles I perform is not me doing a thing, but You showcasing Your mighty power. Lord, the wickedness in this world is really disturbing. I can see things that I never saw before and it is startling. I just hope and pray that people will also be born again, that they may not fall victim to the enemy, and be unaware of it. Surely, we cannot be saved unless You are leading us. I love You, Lord. I trust in You, God. Amen.
