I ask people all the time if they are a Christian, and most people say they are. But then I ask them if they are currently following Jesus and most people say they are not. So it seems to me that being a Christian doesn’t mean much to these people, as it is really only words but no actions. And for this to be so common, there is a big concern here. And the concern is that people are denying their chance for salvation and don’t even realize it. They are deciding to live for the world, instead of God. And it isn’t until a person asks them about their faith, that they don’t think about what is most important in life. Now, this should not have to happen, as true Christians should already be seeking the Lord daily, through the Bible and prayer. However, this is not what happens most times. Instead people go to church with the intention to be reminded on how to follow Jesus weekly. And this they do each Saturday or Sunday, as during the week they are right back to doing their own things that God hates. However, if following Jesus was their thing, then they would not have to be reminded. Instead, church would become a place to learn more and to fellowship with others in the faith. Instead of themselves getting reminded each time, they would gain so much more insight on scripture and have more of a true love for one another. This is what is lacking, for only few people are true Christians.
â– In Matthew 6, we learn about people’s treasures and how we cannot have one foot in the world and one foot with God. We must be all in for the Lord to be saved. Please read the verses below:
Matthew 6:19-24 (KJV)
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
It is clear that when Jesus says our whole body is in darkness, if He is not a part of it, that this should mean something to us. And the person living in sin, ought to wake up and listen to what Jesus is saying. Truly, where our treasure is, there is our heart also. Anybody wishing to go to heaven must make a choice to follow Jesus. If this is not their desire, then heaven is out of the equation. You cannot have what the world offers and still go to heaven. Instead, we need to have the desire to be made separate from everything that appears evil, for us to be made clean with Jesus. This means giving everything over to God, that He is not happy with. And if you are one of those people that are living in sin, I ask you, what is holding you back from going all in with God? What specific sin or sins are in your closet that God needs to cast out? In order for our faith to be renewed and come alive again, all our sins must be given over to God. Nothing can be held back. This is something to not only think about but do, starting today. Call upon the Lord Jesus and confess your sins. Cry out to Him and ask for His deliverance. His mercy is for you, if you but give Him your hand of faith. Know that Jesus wants to know your true intentions and if He is your highest priority or not. He will not force Your hand, but is so willing to help you, if You but reach to Him in faith. Start reading the Bible daily and give yourself over to the Lord in prayer often. This will resurrect your walk with Christ.
â– In Romans 10, we learn about confessions to God and how it shows our believe in Him. God hears these prayers and we are saved through God’s hand in our lives. Please read the verses below:
Romans 10:9-13 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Giving ourselves over to God in prayer and reading His Word daily is so important in our walk with Him. It is only when we neglect this chance, that the darkness of this world seeps into our lives and we are lost again. It is my prayer that each person that calls themselves a Christian, will also act the part. Don’t just put on a pretty face, when in secret or with other people, you are living a life of sin. Know that if people are not living a life for Jesus, then they are choosing the world over Him. And if not for the Lord, then He has been replaced with the things of this world. And this is sad, since without God, only sin and death is in a person’s life. This also means that most people are not truly Christian and unsaved also. Every person needs a wakeup call, in order to fully come out of sin and follow Jesus. This wakeup call could be your spouse catching you looking at porn or committing adultery and then going through a divorce because of it. This could be your spouse not giving in any longer to your drinking addiction and wanting to move on without you. This could be your parents or someone you trust, finding drugs on you, and then losing trust in you. However, there is a difference when a person confesses their sins one to another. In doing this, people can see the change in your lives and are more considerate to what you’ve done. So get right with God today and with those people that you have hurt. You do not want to be numbered with the majority of people that will not be saved. You can be part of the few that love the Lord and make Him a priority of their lives.
â– In James 5, we learn about the importance of confession our sins one to another, that we may be healed. Please read the verses below:
James 5:16 (KJV)
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
â– And lastly, in Luke 13, we learn that only few people are saved. These are those that don’t just go to church but follow Him and do what He says. Please read the verses below:
Luke 13:23-28 (KJV)
23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that every person that calls themselves a Christian, will truly mean it. May it not just be something that people say they are when questioned, but something they mean in their hearts. I have heard and seen way to many professing Christians, when truly their hearts were far from You. Instead of seeking Your hand, they have sought after things that only fulfill the lusts of the flesh and do not please You in any way. What the world has offered them, this is what they have sought after, instead of finding time in Your Word and in prayer. These people are the majority of everyone around us and I am saddened to know this. For this, I desire that each person has an awakening in their lives and are set back on the path of salvation. Unfortunately, this is not happening. So I pray for more witnesses. That more people will be willing to go out in the harvest and find the lost. Then, when we find those that have been led astray, that through Your love, we might lead them back in. I also pray for every pastor. Please help them understand the importance of reaching every person in the audience. Because most of them are not living a life for Christ, they need to be called out. So I pray, God, that the important messages of sin and repentance is taught and that these people are convicted to a point of confessing their sins to you. This I know that salvation will come to them, because of Your mercy. I love You Lord and say these things in Your holy Name, Jesus. Amen.
