When we compare Isaiah, chapter 4, with 2 Nephi, chapter 14, there is a discrepancy. Joseph Smith changed the word "glory" to "glory of Zion" while copying KJV verses into the Book of Mormon. It is written, “and it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence. And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.” (Isaiah 4:3-6) Here we see glory given to God. Where the word, “defence”, is referencing the Hebrew word “chuppah”. This means “canopy”, or a tent-like structure. This is representation of how God defends us from the storms of life. It was revealed unto Isaiah how God is our protector and our best defense when trials come. Life is difficult, but is much easier to bear with God on our side.
The Book of Mormon's version of Isaiah, chapter 4, is below. It is written, “and it shall come to pass, they that are left in Zion and remain in Jerusalem shall be called holy, every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem. When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning. And the Lord will create upon every dwelling-place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for upon all the glory of Zion shall be a defence. And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and a covert from storm and from rain.” (2 Nephi 14:3-6) Notice how glory does not refer to the Most High God, but to a place called Zion. This takes away from the glory of God and puts it on a place, which is idolatry. God deserves the glory, not any person or thing. The Lord God is also our protector. He is like unto a tent or “canopy”, as He defends us. As for Joseph Smith, he did not actually translate the Book of Mormon. Instead, he created a story and incorporated parts of the King James Version Bible into it. This makes Joseph Smith a false prophet. Amen.
Let us pray: Oh Lord, I pray that people will come to enjoy Your Words in the Bible instead of wanting to change how it reads. Truly, what is written is a lamp unto my feet. You have changed me from the inside out just by staying connected to my reading on a day-to-day basis. Thank You for hearing my prayers these many years and for giving me wisdom each time I read. I love Your ways, God and especially what You have said in the Bible. I often hear people say that they believe in You and how You are their Lord and Savior, but do they know what You have said? No. When asked about the Bible, many of them have one at home but never read it. This is so sad and leads me to believe that these people are unsaved, but wish they were. If people knew what the Bible says, they would go deeper with You. Many people are shy, and do not want to give their lives to You. This is especially true when another person is present. Lord, have Your way in his life. Now it is the opportunity to deny ourselves and come to the feet of the cross for salvation. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
