Mormon doctrines are primarily based on the teachings of their so-called prophets, not the Bible. They claim that God is speaking to them and that their words are scripture. This is why these people believe that the words of their prophets in General Conference, Doctrine and Covenants, and other statements, are directly from God and scripture just like the Bible. But does God still speak to His people through prophets like in times past? The Mormons better hope so, for if they are wrong then this changes everything. If prophets are not talking to us as God’s mouthpiece, then their modern-day revelations are not of God, nor scripture. Let this sink in for a minute. Everything Joseph Smith and other prophets have spoken since the early 1800s to this day would then be wrong. If the Bible is right and God does not speak to His people through prophets, what will you do? How will you react if what you’ve learned in the Mormon church is false? Would you resign and find a good Bible-believing church? Now the evidence. Get ready and open your heart to God today.
Jesus, our Lord, and God taught that “the law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.” (Luke 16:16) This means that the laws of Moses, and God speaking to His people through prophets, were fulfilled and no longer necessary. In Hebrews, it reads, “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.” (Hebrews 1:1,2) What we learn here, my friends, is that God spoke in the past to His people through prophets. They were once His mouthpiece. However, Jesus came and now speaks to us in these last of days. How does Jesus do this? He did not leave us comfortless but left us with the Holy Spirit. Jesus speaks through the Holy Spirit to every true believer. Prophecy is a gift of the Spirit, but not to be used to lead a church. Jesus does that. Therefore, “Sola Scriptura” is alive and well. Only the Bible is authoritative for God and Christians.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people would learn to love You and Your Words. Not to idolize the Bible, but to learn from You, God, and put You first. The Bible is no ordinary book, but a lamp unto our feet. Thank You, Lord, for preserving the scriptures like You said You would. People can try to add to Your words, but I know there are consequences for these actions. There are many false prophets in the world today. Mormon prophets are among these people. They give a message that sounds good on the outside. They use stories that help people understand what they are saying. It touches people’s hearts, although on the inside comes out lies and deceits from the devil. God, how is it that people that say they are for You could lead millions of people astray? I wish I could talk to these false prophets face to face and help them understand the errors of their ways. This may be impossible, but I am still grateful for all the Mormon missionaries you have put on my path all these many years. I pray that many of them will come out of their cult and to You, Jesus. I love You, Lord. I trust in You, God. Amen.
