I think back on Jesus’s birth. This was a day we shall surely never forget. How God chose Joseph and Mary to be the humble parents of His only Son. How they didn’t have much but glorified God for what they did have. In their lowly state God greatly blessed them. As Mary was with Child all Joseph desired was a place to deliver their Son safely. They went from inn to inn but they were all full. Everyone eventually shut their doors to them except one humble place. There was a stable full of animals that had room to receive them. It was here that Mary “brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger”. The baby Jesus was sleeping as the heavens were opened. The angels sang out in praise for the Savior was born. Hosanna for the King was born to deliver all people from sin. How blessed was this day.
To Jesus I praise. In this Christmas season I give thanks for His birth. Everything that I cherish is all because He came into the world. He brought forth the redemption of sins through the cross. His mercy and grace gives me great hope. All that believe in Him will be saved. The Lord is looking for a place to rest if we can only make room for Him. At His birth there was no room to receive Him. In this life many people are fulfilled with worldly things and Jesus has no place with them. I pray that this may not be us. Open your doors to Him. Freely give way to the Holy Spirit. Oh Lord, thank You for offering up Your throne above to be born in a manger. Your life has given me freedom from sin. I am no longer in chains but am fulfilled in Your joy. I no longer worry about Your coming but am excited to receive You. You the greatest gift on earth. Your love makes my life complete. I love You.
Luke 2:1-7 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
