Jesus’s birth is the best thing that has ever happened to mankind. God became flesh for one reason and that was to save His people from their sins. This is the best news that anybody has ever heard. However, because the Jews were looking for a king to rule them, the majority of these people rejected the Lord and still do today. The first on the scene when it came to Jesus’s birth was the wise men. They came to Jerusalem first as the star had guided them there. It was there that they met Herod the king, of which they knew right away that he was not someone to trust. This was written two thousand years ago in a book we call the Bible. Matthew wrote, “now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.” (Matthew 2:1-3)
While with Herod, the wise men found out the rightful place for Jesus’s birth, which is Bethlehem. Herod’s scribes had a copy of the ancient book of Micah, which indicated that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. They even quote the verses from chapter 5, in regard to this place of Jesus’s birth. It is written, “And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, and thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.” (Matthew 2:4-6) Matthew wrote down the words from the prophet Micah and we learn that Jesus came humbly to a little town called Bethlehem. But from Him would come a Governor and King. Jesus is God and does rule His people in heaven. Two thousand years He came down to earth and soon He will return. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people would come to know You. Yes, Jesus, the majority of people are making the worst decisions of their lives. Because they have rejected You as their Lord and Savior, the moment they die they are now suffering in hell. I don’t want this to happen to anybody, especially to people I know and love. Therefore, I will keep being Your light in the darkness. I will proclaim that You came into this world, Emmanuel, God with us. You were so humble, being born in a manger. Truly, Your mission was to come down to earth, in order to be raised up on the cross for the payment of sins. Thank You Jesus for Your death and atonement. I am forgiven because of the blood that You spilled for us on the cross. Thank You, Jesus. Because You rose from the grave I will also rise to be with You in paradise when I die. Thank You for saving me. If only everyone knew the importance of Your birth, death, and resurrection, many more people would be saved. I believe in You, Jesus. I trust in You. I love You, Lord. Amen.
