We learned in the first part of Revelation, chapter 11, about who the two witnesses are, which are the two anointed ones by God, according to Zechariah, chapter 4. You can read that message HERE. As for this message, we will focus on what these two prophets will be doing during the space of 3 years and 6 months. To find out these details, let us open up to verse 5 and start reading. “And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.” (Revelation 11:5-9) These men could breathe fire upon their enemies, cause it not to rain, turn water into blood, and smite the earth with all manner of plagues. Think of Moses and what he did to Pharaoh and the people of Egypt because of their hard hearts. The same can be seen in this wicked time, where people hate God’s people and their message for mankind.
What we see also in the verses above is that the beast caused people to war against the two witnesses. This could mean a person that is high-up in the government that orders the armed forces to battle against them. All we know is that the men in the battle overtook them and killed them. What happened next we will read, starting in verse 10. “And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.” (Revelation 11:10-14) As people began to party on the streets because of the men’s deaths, a miracle occurred before their eyes. While these two men were laying on the streets dead, their spirit entered them again and they were alive. God then called them up to be with Him, while a great earthquake killed a tenth of the city. Many people died and were very afraid, while others gave God glory. Praise God that there were people that believed during this wicked time.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that Your people will remain strong in the faith, no matter what battles come our way. Persecution is already rising against the church at this time and I have personally seen the attacks come my way. When it comes to believing in You, Jesus, life isn’t always easy. I know that there will be ups and downs during the span of my life. All I know is that if I abide in You, then all things will work out of my good. Even to a point of being at peace during the hardest times of my life. Only You can do this, Lord, for nothing is impossible when You are in my life. There is guidance and direction that I can find from anyone else, for You are my supplier of the wisdom I need in this life. I pray that You will continue to lead the way. As for heavenly things, I know that my eyes are only open so far when it comes to seeing things in Your kingdom. Therefore, open my eyes further and further, that I might be ready to know Your perfect will when my time is done. It is true that I will not live forever, and that one day You will take me home, dear Lord. If in death or in the rapture, I will be ready. I am Your son and You are my Father. I want everything that You can do for my life. So Lord, lead me from temptation. Help me to win the battles over sin, that I may not transgress against You. You know what I have done in the past and I am so very sorry. Forgive me, Lord. Make me clean and sanctify me through Your blood. I want more of You and less of me. I love You, God. Amen.
