When we come to Christ, our lives are different. We no longer hang out with the wrong crowds but fellowship with believers instead. Why is this? Because we do not wish to be swayed into committing or justifying sin any longer. It is when we go back and do things we once did with friends, darkness seeps back into our lives, where the light of Christ leaves us. That is why Paul said the following to the Corinthian church. He wrote, “be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?” (2 Corinthians 6:14,15) This does not mean that we cannot be a light in the darkness. We sure can be a witness for Christ among those who are lost. We just don’t do things to fit in with them, especially if they are living in willful sin. You know exactly what I am talking about here. There were people you once knew in the past, of whom you hung around with, that when around them your choices were not the best. You did things that you wished you didn’t do. It could be with your friends or even a boyfriend/girlfriend where you dabbled in drugs, alcohol, pornography, sex, and more. These are the things that even cause people to have a hard time forgiving themselves.
Each one of us wishes that we could change a portion of our past. But what is done is done, even though we sinned against God. Now it is up to God to forgive you if you are sincere and sorrowful for your sins. God can hear our prayers and knows who really desires closure for things we once did and a new desire to live our lives fully surrounded to Jesus. If you haven’t done this, then please consider calling upon the Lord today and asking Him that He may come into Your life completely. He will change you from the inside out. He is willing to do a work in your life that has never been seen before by yourself and others. Just believe in God unto salvation and He will take you places that you have never gone before. Paul taught, “and what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18) The moment we come out from among people who are causing us to sin against God is when He begins to dwell in our lives. Seek the Lord God every day of your life and you shall be blessed.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will learn what we ought to be doing in this life. Conform each one of us in Your perfect will, that our own desires will not get in the way. I submit my life to You now, that You may change me as You need to. There are times that I fall and do things I know that are wrong. I am sorry, God. You know exactly what I’ve done. Without Your protection, I am an open duck to Satan’s fiery darts. My only desire in life is to serve and to love You and my neighbor as myself. If I am failing You in this then my life has no more meaning. Instead of being filled with gladness, I am filled with sadness and regret. Thankfully, Your hand has come to bear me up that Satan cannot just have His way in me like before. But still, there are times that I do fall and wonder how it must have affected You. Even my God, whom I love. Lord, forgive me. Have mercy upon my soul. I am sorry for hurting You. You are you my King and I ought to respect You enough to still obey You in every moment that I am being tempted. You will never allow me to be tempted more than I am able to resist, especially if you are indwelling in me. Yes, God, come and dwell with me all the rest of my days. I do not know how much time I have left on this earth. My last breath could be tonight or even tomorrow, but if my days do come to a closure in the near future, take me home to be with You. Where You are, I wish to be. I love You, Lord. I give You praise and honor, this day and forever. Amen.
