Valentine’s Day Message

This is our day to tell our spouse that we love them, and to also give God thanks for he or she in our lives. In the beginning, God created male and female , in order for us to leave our father and mother and cling to our spouse. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:27,28) We are God’s prized possessions. Nothing was made that was greater than us, of which we were made in His image. But God knew that we needed a partner in life in order to, not only produce children, but to have someone near to us that makes us complete. Sometimes we know this about the person we are dating early on, others take time. “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (Genesis 2:24) The day of our marriage is never forgotten, even as many years go by.

It isn’t always easy keeping a marriage a float as years go on. The early years may appear to be easier than the later ones, but one thing that helps it last is love between husband and wife, plus the love of God. Two believers that come together in marriage are very blessed, for the Holy Spirit is now their guide. Truly, God’s will is done in their lives. Do they sometimes forget God? Yes. However, the other spouse is able to remind them of what they are missing out on when they go astray or have dry spells. As for a person who is an unbeliever that marries a believer, the non believer is blessed to have a godly man or woman in their lives. Does the unbelieving spouse usually come to faith, normally this is not the case. However, many children are influenced for the sake of God, which makes everything worth it. Two beleivers can also produce children that are not spiritual if they were selfish and didn’t raise them to know God. This is why selfish ambitions in marriage need to go. Thinking more about our spouse and children’s needs over our own is the key to a good marriage. This relationship comes from God’s hand. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, thank You for my wife. We have been together now for sixteen, almost seventeen years, which hasn’t always been easy, but worth it still. What a wonderful woman she is. Not only is she a wonderful mother, but continually cares for their daily needs. I am left amazed how well our children are doing in school because she stays up late with them helping them with their homework. They always have a lunch made and there is food on the table each day. I cannot tell her enough for everything she does for our children and myself. Lord, I have been able to go on mission trips, do evangelism on the weekends, and more, without any questions asked. I am grateful that she trusts me, especially when I am out serving You. In this new year, we have both made new goals, but one I will make now is to have You in this marriage more and more. I am not perfect when it comes to loving my wife the way she deserves to be loved. So help me do what is necessary in order for her to feel loved by me. Lead me through the Holy Spriit, in order for this marriage to continue on with You at the head. Lead us, Jesus. I love You, God. Amen.
