Jesus Is God

The Bible refers to both the creator of this world and our judge as God. Now this message will be piecing together who the Lord God is and why. As you may have already guessed by the title of this message, I will be making the claim that Jesus is God and therefore our creator and judge. Now let us begin with the evidence we have in the Bible that support such claims. We will start with Solomon and his reference to God being our judge and lastly Nehemiah, who referenced God to be our creator. This is very significant and you will understand why as we read and study what God Word says about who is our creator and judge. Now let us begin with Solomon and his account. Solomon 2“saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.” He then said, 2“God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.” Since Solomon lived hundreds of years before Jesus’s birth, he did not know the name, Jesus, yet but know that God was our judge. So how do we know that Jesus was referred to? Well, because Paul explained that Jesus is our judge. He said, 3“we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” So we can see here that when Solomon was speaking of God, it was of Jesus, as it has been confirmed that He is our creator.

Before the days of Solomon, Nehemiah wrote about the Lord God, our creator. He said, 1“Thou, even thou, art Lord alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee. Thou art the Lord the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham.” This was also recorded long before Jesus was born. However, it was known that God is our creator. And how do we know that it was Jesus before referred to as God here? Well, because Paul taught that Jesus is our creator. He said, 4“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” Yes, the Bible is clear that Jesus is God and also our judge and creator. He is our Lord God and deserves our praise and worship.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord Jesus, You are God and I praise Your holy name. You are our great creator and all things were made by Your hands. We are beautifully made by You, God. You are so glorious in every way. Even all the heavens declare that You are Lord of all. There is no one like You, God. I am in awe just thinking of You and everything You have done for my life. To think that I am watched over by You, helps me know that I am loved and cared for. You know my every need and keep me safe. I also know that You are my judge. And even before that wonderful day that I will finally see You in person, I know that You are there for me now. Yes, You have rescued me from the pains of this life. All my sorrows and regret is over for Your blood as covered me. Where there was no hope for me, while in this world, You have snatched me out of the clutches of the devil and found compassion for my soul. I may have thought that I was to wicked for Your forgiveness but You showed up, nonetheless, and forgave me of all my sins. I am a new man before of Your mercy. Thank You God for this new life. I am honored to serve You, my King. I love You and praise You Lord. Amen.

1Nehemiah 9:6-13 (KJV)
6 Thou, even thou, art Lord alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
7 Thou art the Lord the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham;
8 And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous:
9 And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea;
10 And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.
11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.
12 Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.
13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:

2Ecclesiastes 3:12-22 (KJV)
12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

32 Corinthians 5:8-11 (KJV)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

4Colossians 1:12-17 (KJV)
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
