David Knew About Jesus, Our Lord

Even in the time of the Old Testament, David knew about the Father and our Lord, Jesus. He knew that they are both Lord, but that His Lord was Jesus. As we come unto the Father through Jesus, David came to the Father through His Lord also. Hence the reason why He said, “the Lord said unto my Lord”. This statement is referenced in Psalm, chapter 110, verse 1. We can learn a lot from this one verse, for it helps people understand the Trinity even better. This is because there is only one God, which we will read later in Isaiah. As for this chapter in Psalm, the verses read, “the Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.” (Psalm 110:1-3) The truth is, Jesus is led by the Father and does what He says, hence he is David’s Lord and my Lord also.

In John, chapter 1, which reads, “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1-3) So we learn about the Father being God, and the Son being God also, but how can this be if there is only one God? It would have to mean the trinity is true. Isaiah wrote, “remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.” (Isaiah 46:9) So the explanation found in Psalm, chapter 110, I, males sense. How the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit are one God. The Father is Lord, and so is Jesus, being through distinct persons. In the Old Testament, Jesus existed as Spirit, just like the Father, and the Holy Spirit. It Is in His birth that He became flesh. Praise God that Jesus came to save us from our sins. We owe everything to Him for coming down to save us. Bow down before Him now in honor and praise. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will come to learn of You and You will give them wisdom. There is so much that You are able to teach us if only our hearts were for You. Father, thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to save us from our sins. This very act of love shows how good You are towards mankind. You loved the very least of us by allowing Your only Son to die for us. That must have been so difficult to look away as the Lord bore our sins on the cross. This sacrifice means everything to me. Thank You, God. Thank Lord, for dying for my sins. Yes, Jesus, it brings me to tears just thinking about what You did for me. I am no longer alone in this world, for You are with me. You did not leave us comfortless but sent us the Holy Spirit to lead and guide our lives in the ways of righteousness. Thank You for leading the Holy Spirit as the Father Leads You, Jesus. To hear Your voice and do as You say is a blessing and a great joy. I love You, Jesus. I give You everything. Continue to mold and shape my life. This life is for You. Amen.

  1. I don’t know about David knowing Jesus as Jesus. But, Jesus in the form of the Angel of the Lord is revealed in the OT. Perhaps that’s what David was referring to. John 1:1-3 is a tremendous verse about the Trinity and verifies that Jesus was always God and Creator.
