Book Of Mormon Plagiarism: 1 Nephi 20:1-3

What Joseph Smith did to the Book of Isaiah will always be remembered by God and His people as plagiarism, a forgery, and a contradiction to God’s Word in the Bible. Thankfully we have the dead sea scrolls which validate the actual words of the KJV Version of the book of Isaiah. What this means, however, is that all these extra words and phrases added to and taken away from this book will be upon his head forever come judgment day. Looking at the clean version of Isaiah, chapter 48, we read the following, “Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The Lord of hosts is his name. I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.” (Isaiah 48:1-3) Notice how baptism is not mentioned and how the people stay themselves upon the God of Israel. This is important to remember.

In contrast to this chapter in Isaiah, we see Joseph Smith go to town when it comes to him changing the wording all over the place. See for yourself in 1 Nephi, chapter 20, in the book of Mormon. It reads, “hearken and hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, or out of the waters of baptism, who swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, yet they swear not in truth nor in righteousness. Nevertheless, they call themselves of the holy city, but they do not stay themselves upon the God of Israel, who is the Lord of Hosts; yea, the Lord of Hosts is his name. Behold, I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them. I did show them suddenly.” (1 Nephi 20:1-3) Waters of baptism were added, along with “but they not stay themselves upon the God of Israel”, which is a lie, when comparing this with the Bible. Therefore, what Joseph Smith did to Isaiah in this chapter, Isaiah, chapter 48, and many other chapters also, is damning. He is surely suffering in hell right now as a liar and a false prophet. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people in the Mormon faith will repent of their false beliefs and also give their lives to You. Currently, they are on the path of destruction, but I can see that many of these people can still be saved. All they need to do is hear the truth of the gospel message of the cross and resurrection, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, they would resign from their cult once and for all. I am grateful for the people You have led out of the Mormon church and into a good Bible-believing church because of my efforts in Your kingdom. I didn’t do any of this myself, but as I opened my mouth You filled it with words to speak. I am so grateful, God, for the giftings of the Spirit in my life. I am able to do things I never thought were possible. Lord, wherever You lead me, I will go. I am grateful for my friend Patrick, of whom we do mission trips twice a year in Utah, in order to reach Mormons for Your sake. Thank You for Sean also, of whom I am now knocking on doors, in order to lead people to You, Jesus. You have led me to these two individuals for many reasons I will never understand. Thank You for them and other Christians in my life. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
