How To Build The Tabernacle: Part 1

There was a time when God required His people to make for Him a tabernacle, of which He would dwell. This was during the old covenant, of which people would even face the tabernacle/temple when they prayed, for God dwelled there. And the instructions of the building of the tabernacle came from the Lord Jesus, while on Mount Sinai with Moses. After giving him the ten commandments and other important laws for that time, God instructed him to have the people of Israel make him a tabernacle. Just like Noah’s ark, precise instructions were given to Moses. It all began in Exodus, chapter 25. It is written, “and let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it. And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.” (Exodus 25:8-10) There is much more to read about this tabernacle as you continue to read in this chapter.

You may wonder if it is still important to learn about God’s tabernacle. And the answer is yes. We may not use a tabernacle or temple on earth any longer, because we are the temple of the living God now, but that does not mean that God’s tabernacle is not in heaven. It is in heaven that people even sing a song of Moses, which they say “great and marvelous are thy works” (Revelation 15:3). One of these reasons why his works were this way was because of his help in building God’s tabernacle. Let’s read now in Revelation, chapter 15. It reads, “and they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest. And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.” (Revelation 15:3-5) One day we will see God’s tabernacle with our own eyes. Praise be to God. Amen and amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am grateful to know about the things that You love and wish for us to do on earth. On the same note, I have also learned to hate the things that You hate and for us not to do on earth. Although many things are done away with that were part of the old covenant, Your tabernacle still resides in heaven, which I think is so awesome. I love Your ten commandments, for they only make me a better person as I remember them and obey them. Your ways are so important and that is why I cling to them day in and day out. There is a reward for those who do Your will on earth. As for me, my desires are not on the things of this world, but what I am able to build up in heaven. So I pray that You have found my sacrifices for You honorable, Lord. I only wish to please You and to help others know You, Jesus. Keep me upright and shine brightly through me and into other people’s lives. Your light is so magnificent and for it to radiate through me is all I desire. You are so good, God. I praise Your holy Name. Lead me from temptation and forgive me of my sins. I love You, Lord. I trust in You. Amen.

  1. AMEN! I can’t wait to see the tabernacle or temple in heaven. John the Revelator saw a temple in heaven. I want to know what that temple is like. I wish to be there. Sadly, I think that I’m not ready yet but I hope to be ready when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. All praise and honor and glory to God! May God be praised and honored and glorified forever! I just hope that I’m ready when He comes again. I want to be in the temple in heaven. I want to see it and worship God in heaven forever. I’d love to be at His throne singing praises to Him in heaven forever. I pray that all of us will be ready for Him when He comes. Amen!
