Giving Thanks To God, Our King

To help us understand the need to give thanks to God, let us read from the book of Psalm, chapter 100. David sets the tone here on how we ought to come to the throne of God each day in thanksgiving. We sing praises unto the Lord through music because of our great love for the Father and His son Jesus. God has called us out from among those of the world and into His fold. We are his sheep and have heard and followed His voice for safety. And now we give Him thanks for His mercy, for it endures forever. David said, “make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” (Psalm 100:1-5) Know that this is true, my friends. God is so good and is worthy of our praise. Extol the Lord and give the King of glory thanks.

Apostle Paul is in agreement with David and also proclaimed, “be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6) “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Colossians 3:17) “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Remember that everything You receive in this life is worthy of our thanksgiving to God. We don’t just pray over our food during the day, but put our focus on the Lord all throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening. Our prayers and thanks to God are not for specific times of the day, for our heart is knit with Him. Seeking God and then giving Him praise is the least we can do, for He is the one that has blessed us. Our family, our friends, our home, our car, our job, our health, and especially our salvation and mercy. If you are blessed in anything, then tell God today. Cry out to Him in thanksgiving, holding nothing back. He is worthy of our praise.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I give You thanks. Thank You, Lord, for my beautiful wife and my two daughters. You are the only one, God, that put this in motion and allowed me to have such a wonderful family. Thank You for my job and my wife’s also. There are no financial burdens for my family because of You. You have made it so that we have food on the table each day, a home to sleep in, and a car to drive. Thank You for making all this possible and much more. You have given us an immune system to fight COVID and other illnesses. Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Lord, for all that You do for me. I am unworthy of your blessings in my life, but Your mercy allows them to flow like rain. You have heard my cries and forgiven me of all my sins. Thank You, Jesus. The least I can do is sing out in praise to Your holy Name. I extol the Lord, for You are good. Your mercy endures forever. The truth is, I want more of You in my life and less of my own desires. Conform my ways into Your ways. Keep my eyes fixed on heaven, that I might not deviate from the path of righteousness and into worldly things. I love You, Lord. I trust in You. Amen.
