Lusts Of The Flesh

The lusts of the flesh bring out our aggression and causes us to be very rude to people, especially their spouse. Because people watch porn but cannot have what they see on the screen they take it out on their wives. So they make them feel that they aren’t pretty enough, need to lose weight, and more. This leads to needless arguments and fights. People’s eyes even begin to drift to the point of committing adultery with other women. James spoke on this and said, “from whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?” (James 4:1-5) If people could just learn to pray and seek the Lord daily, then all this would be over. There is forgiveness and mercy from the Lord for all our sins, but we must confess and forsake them first.

James also said, “but he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” (James 4:6-10) These passages are so amazing. If people would simply apply what James is saying to their everyday walk, they would, most certainly, be forgiven and found worthy in God’s sight. First of all, we need to humble ourselves before God, then His grace is given to us. The moment you draw near unto God, He also draws near unto you. Even today, after my shower, I fell upon my knees and prayed, I knew God was near in that moment. I admitted I was a sinner and cried out to the Lord for forgiveness. It was after this that my soul was lifted up. We may not be able to remove addictions and bad habits from our lives, but God can. And when you are ready, God will do an amazing work in your life. Even helping you overcome things you couldn’t before. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that our hearts will be turned over to You on a daily basis. Surely, it was wonderful as I kneeled down and prayed this morning after my shower. On my knees, I cried out for forgiveness and mercy, and You were there to comfort me. It may take a lot to finally humble ourselves like a child, but I am so grateful that I finally did this today. It was long overdue. It is my prayer that I will fall down each morning in prayer. Life cannot get any worse if I do this, only get better. You know as much as I do, Lord, that I still have a lot to work on. And only You can help me overcome these bad habits and sinful actions. Help me, Lord. Lead me from temptation and into Your glorious light. It is my prayer that every ounce of lust will be removed from my heart, as well as others that read this prayer. Forgive us, Lord. We believe in You. These awful and wicked sins we don’t wish to keep doing, but for them, all be expunged. You can do all things in our lives and others, as we simply seek You daily. I may be alone with my family afar off, but You are still near to me. You have not left me or forsaken me. I love You, Jesus. I want to do Your will above all things, but only You can help me do this. Help me! I trust in You, alone, Lord. In Your mighty Name, Jesus, I pray. Amen and Amen.
