More Than Praying For Others

It is important that we think upon other people’s needs, but also act upon these desires. Prayer is part of this, but it is also done through four different things. #1, in supplications. This is when we earnestly ask God for something specific. We do this humbly on our knees, that God may answer our prayers. #2, in prayer. These prayers can be done with or without the person. We humbly pray that God will bless their lives. It could be through good health, financial assistance, a renewed faith, and a desire to live for God, to have His guidance in their lives, and other things also. #3, in intersessions. In doing this, we intercede through the Holy Spirit, even for a single person or individuals. It is the Spirit of God that He intercedes for us, so we can invoke the Spirit to help these people in need. #4, in giving thanks. As we pray, it is good to always good to give thanks for the things that are going well in our lives and others. When we pray for this person, we thank God for people allowing us to pray over them. We are thankful that God is listening to us even now as we invoke His hand in this other person’s life. Other things we thank God for also. What I just mentioned are different ways we can call upon God. We do this for every person, even kings and other people who are in authority.

What I just taught is biblical, for it comes from 1 Timothy, chapter 2. Just listen to what Paul said and learn from His own words. He said, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.” (1 Timothy 2:1-3) And also in Romans, chapter 8, we learn. “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26,27) Please allow these verses to take root in your lives. Don’t just take what I said earlier for truth, but allow these verses to guide you in the ways you ought to live for others. As saints of God, we do more than pray for others, but also supplicate, pray, intercede, and give thanks for them also. Doing this will help your own prayer life, while other people are greatly blessed by you also. Allow God to help you be a blessing upon everyone you meet. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for the sake of every person in this world. We were each created for a very special purpose. Unfortunately, not every person realizes their potential with You in their lives. I wish that people would be drawn to know You as their Lord and Savior, but I am afraid that I can only make supplications for their needs. Help them find what is most important in life, which is knowing You and doing what You say is right and holy. As I intercede, even now through the Holy Spirit, I ask that You will touch people’s lives that are open to receive You, Jesus. Help them find the right path which leads to heaven. Lead them away from the darkness that is in their lives now and into Your abundant light. Help these people understand that being a Christian does not have to be difficult. Sure, it can be hard upon family and friends that don’t understand what it means to have a changed life for Christ. Our speaking of Jesus may not be taken in with thanks, but pushback, but this is all for You, God. We know that our journey may not be easy, but it is always worth it. We may be persecuted, spit on, and even killed for what we believe in, but it is why we live. To die in the Lord, is our gain, God. We thank You for saving us and forgiving our sins. We owe everything to You. We love You, God. Amen.
