The Second Coming Of Our Lord Jesus

The second coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ, is upon us. The question is, will you be one of those people who will be on earth when He returns. And if so, will you be worthy in His sight or be like unto the wicked who dwells in darkness? Paul speaks of these latter days when Christ will return and puts it this way, “but of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-5) Nobody knows when Jesus will return, but what is important is that we live each day as if it was today. We live in the light of Jesus by doing as He commands us through the Holy Spirit. If the Spirit is guiding you, then darkness no longer dwells within, for you are redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

Paul also said, “therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.” (1 Thessalonians 5:6-10) Here we learn that as Christians we keep ourselves wide awake, that when the enemy strikes we will be ready to fight with God on our side. This means that we stay sober-minded and do not let ourselves be taken over by alcohol or drugs. To be drunken in what we drink or consume is telling God that He does not matter in our lives. For we were not appointed to live as the world does, whom God’s wrath is upon, but unto salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for our sins and it is now up to us to believe in Him and to also live for Him. This is unto salvation. Jesus is alive and is coming very soon. Get ready. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will prepare for Your coming. We may not know if we will be one of those people who will be alive when that day happens, but we will live for You each day nonetheless. If I am to die before that great and dreadful day, I will still see You. On that day, You will open all the graves of the righteous. To be among them, or be alive in that day does not matter. I just want to be raised up in the clouds to be with You, Jesus. Alive or in death, I will finally rise to be with You, my King. Lead, guide, and light up my life. Protect me from the enemy. Do not let the darkness of this world creep into my life. Build me up in Your armor, that I might fight against the enemy each time He strikes. As for alcohol or drugs, I will not let myself be tangled up in them. To remain sober-minded and not drunken in things like this is the least I can do for You, Jesus. Be near me all the days of my life. Help me to not stumble, but to walk faithfully for You. When this life is over, I pray that You will allow me to run to You, in order for me to hug You. I want You to know that I love You and that is why I live for You, Jesus. Amen.

  1. It is extremely important to get right with God and to make sure that we are right with Him before He comes again. This means repenting from our sins and making things right with God and everyone else hurt or involved and living a Godly and Holy and God fearing life.
