Many Members But Differing Gifts

In Christ’s church, we are not all alike. God has given each one of us different gifts of the Spirit, that we might all do a different work for Him. We are all members of Christ, but not all the same. I may have been called as an Evangelist, and as a writer for “Daily Christian Devotionals“, but others may be called as a teacher who does a wonderful job in the children’s or youth ministry. There are some who are bold for Christ in preaching, and/or passing out tracts, and/or praying for and with the lost on the streets. We got people visiting the lost in prisons, nursing homes/assisted living facilities, and people’s homes. Some serve in the worship group at church. People are also called as Pastors, Elders, Teachers in churches. There are many other things that God calls us to do in His church, but we can only know what God is calling us to if we but yield ourselves unto Him through the Holy Spirit. Praise God for everybody who is has become a willing servant for the Lord God, our King. Paul also spoke on this and said, “for as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” (Romans 12:4,5) He is speaking to you and I, but only those of you who are willing to give up certain things in this life, in order to walk the light of Jesus. You know what is holding you back, so give it to God today.

Paul continued by teaching us that “having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.” (Romans 12:6-11) There is so much in these verses, so please ponder upon God’s Words and go about doing as He has called you to in your ministry. And please do one thing, remember to uplift others in the faith. Every person is not going to be able to do the same things you can do, but praise be to God that they are serving God in the way He has called them to. It is this brotherly and sisterly love that brings people to Jesus, instead of leading them away from Him. We are not lazy in our calling either, but always looking for new ways to serve God in the calling we have now and others He may call us to in the future.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will all find out what You have called us to in this life. Yes, God, You have a work set apart for each one of us who loves You. I just wish that every person could figure out what You want from them in Your church. If every person became a servant for You, so much more good would be happening in our own city, state, and country. Many more lives would be blessed every day, while the lost would be found. And praise be to God, for every person who has become a willing servant for You now. This has meant giving up certain things, but as they will say, it was all worth it. There is nothing I’d rather have than to have Your blessings pour down upon me from the heavens. Do I need things that the world offers me? No. Only if it glories Your great Name do I desire to have it. All I wish Lord, is that the ministry that You have set apart for me will grow and that more people will be reached with the gospel. Telling people about You, Jesus, is the best thing that I have ever done in my life. It fills me up with joy that is beyond understanding. No matter if there are people that come to persecute me because of my faith, I know that this is part of being an evangelist for You, my Lord. Surely, with You by my side, there is nobody stopping me from doing Your will as it is in heaven for my life. You give me boldness to share the gospel and courage that never fails. Thank You. I love You, Lord. Amen.
