The Great Commission During The Coronavirus Pandemic

Many people know about the great commission. Where Jesus said, “go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:19,20) This is the calling that Jesus, our Lord, has called every believer to be a part of until His second coming. In His own words, Jesus said, “and this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matthew 24:14) And so believers of God have done as Jesus said for over two thousand years now, and for the first time in that time frame, the coronavirus pandemic has halted the travel to different places around the globe for people who resist the vaccine. This is because Christians can no longer travel via airplane to other countries lest they get the COVID-19 Vaccine and associated passport to enter. So it goes down to us conforming to the world’s agenda in getting the vaccine or not. People are forced to make this decision if they want to go on mission trips overseas. This is very sad, for it is forcing people’s hands in doing what they do not want to. I wish people would resist the vaccine, but who is it for me to stop them at this point. I just wish God would intervene. God will direct their paths if they trust in Him.

As a Christian, it is hard to be in support of different COVID-19 vaccines when they been out for less than a year. But the root of the problem is what the vaccine does. It either creates opportunities for people or not. The privilege we are speaking of here is the ability to go overseas or not. Sure, a vaccine would allow mission trips to continue, but will it be worth it, especially if God was never for getting vaccinated in the beginning? And if God was not for the vaccine, will He be for the mission trips that people end up doing while overseas? Here is what God is telling me, even now as I write this. That we are to be led by the Holy Spirit at all times and in all places. Do not let your guard down, even when it seems so harmless with a vaccination. Sure, this might mean waiting out the pandemic or for the vaccine initiatives to end before real mission trips overseas can continue. However, this does not mean that we are to stop spreading the gospel in the country, state, and city we are in. We can be making an impact for God, without people coming to our countries for now. And if you are close to a country where the unreached exist, without the need for air travel or a vaccine, would jump at that opportunity. As for me, I will be in Utah on a mission trip with my friend Patrick Roy come April 2nd through the 6th. Prayers are greatly supported for this evangelistic effort to reach Mormons for God. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I cherish my time to be with You. In Your arms do I wish I could always remain. I am safe in Your presence, God, and I long to always be with You. There is safety when I call upon Your Name, Jesus. I wish others could see You the way I can now, but can only hope and pray that they are also reaching out to You in the same way. So much has changed in the time we are living in now. Where the gospel was once preached in other countries because of air travel, this has suddenly been stopped because of the COVID Vaccine and its associated passport. This has been a great hindrance, of which I come to You now for counsel and direction. I know that You have called us to preach the gospel in all the world, and even continue in this until Your return. It is my prayer that all the world will one day be reached with Your gospel message of the cross and resurrection, even in my own lifetime. Sure, generation after generation has passed with faithful saints, of whom preached, faithfully witnessed for You, even dying for Your cause, Jesus. And if it is Your will that my life will one day be removed because of the persecution of the saints also, let Your will be done. However, if I am supposed to be here as Your witness when You do return in the rapture or the Second Coming, I will also be so grateful. All I ask, for now, is that You continue to lead me and others in the faith day in and day out. Help us know who to reach for Your kingdom. Even if we have to wait till we can go overseas again, may we continue to reach people in our own country, state, and city. There is still much more work to be done. I love You, Lord. I praise Your holy Name. Amen.
