False Teaching: Once Saved Always Saved

One of the biggest, if not worst, lies in the church today is that once we are saved, we are always saved. This false teaching is causing millions of people to have a false sense of security of being saved in this life, and unfortunately, hell is their destination in the next, if they do not come back to the Lord. And to prove this in the Bible, we will let Jesus teach us from His own mouth. It is written, “who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 24:45-51) It can’t be more clear than this. We are taught what it means to be a faithful and wise servant for Jesus. And that we are blessed if we are found so doing His will when He returns. These people will become ruler over all his goods in the kingdom that God has prepared for him. This means salvation and an opportunity for a person to die and go to heaven someday. However, the opposite can be said for those people who are not doing God’s will, but there own instead, when He returns and or when they eventually die.

It doesn’t matter if a person prayed a prayer for salvation at a certain age and lived this way for some time, was a pastor or evangelist, or a good churchgoer for many years of their lives. If they have left their first love, which is Christ, there are dire consequences for such a person as this. Jesus even taught us that these types of people who drift off the path and begin to live like those of the world, they have lost their salvation. And in saying that, remember the parable of the prodigal son. It was important that Jesus mentions his return, for if he had not come back to His Father, there would be no hope for him come death. That is why people who have left the faith must return, lest they are accounted with the wicked when they die. As Jesus said in the verses above, people who begin to do things of the world like drink to get drunk, do drugs, look at porn, commit adultery, have sex outside of marriage, get an abortion, become homosexual, and more, have decided to willfully sin against God. And this means death and destruction in the lake of fire come death. Any person who says that they are young and have time to repent later on is in the same boat. These people and others who have left the faith after years of living for God are accounted with the hypocrites when they die. And after dying in their sins, they will be cast into the lake of fire, after judgment is made for their life. There will be an eternal weeping and gnashing of teeth and many regrets of not enduring in the faith. Yes, friends, unless we endure in the faith or at least return, we are not saved in the end.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will learn to live by faith and not just live for a time in the faith. I am afraid that millions of people are on the path of destruction and will die in their sins, lest they return to You. A person cannot think they are saved if they have lived simply for a time for You and are now living a wayward lifestyle that goes against Your will. A person who has drifted away needs to return to You, lest they be found unworthy when they die. Surely, The Bible is clear on this topic of enduing in the faith and refutes the false teaching of “Once Saved Always Saved”. Therefore, I am praying for every person who has currently departed from the faith or has decided to willfully sin against You and still go to church. Wake these people up to Your laws and counsel for their lives. Help them understand the consequences when they break Your commands, by continuing in their sins and never fully surrender to You. And even if people have once given their lives to You and have since left You, these people who are far from You will perish. So may they finally realize the deception’s they are under. Even the lies of the devil, which they have trusted in for some time. I do not wish to know of any more people being led astray unknowingly, and therefore, being cast into the lake of fire come judgment day. There will be regrets and gnashing of teeth. But this does not have to happen. People can return to You and then endure in the faith. I believe in You, Lord. You are my God and I will follow You. I give You praise, this day and forever. I love You. Amen.
