Prayer Warriors

As believers in Jesus, we are also prayer warriors. Meaning that we pray for others more than even ourselves. This means that we spend time thinking of others and also praying for their needs. Doing so can mean that we do this in our own prayer closet, over the phone with others via voice or video call, or even in a home or church setting where numerous people are gathered to pray for the same and other needs also. What I am describing is what took place in the early church and should be carried on today also. In Acts, chapter 12, it reads, “now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” (Acts 12:1-5) Notice that when Peter was put in prison, the people immediately gathered together in prayer for him. It was even without ceasing, meaning it was from morning till evening. This is the heart of a true follower of Jesus.

It is when we pray for others is when God intervenes and even sends angels on people’s behalf. This is what happened with Peter and can happen in our day also. That encounter reads, “and when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.” (Acts 12:6-10) Wow! What an amazing miracle that happened because of prayer. God does hear our prayers, so the prayers of the saints for another person can cause healings, and miracles like this to occur. So be constant in prayer day in and day out.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, raise up prayer warriors unto Yourself. People who have the heart to do more than think upon other’s needs, but people who will diligently pray for them and help them also. Many times we just need is a miracle and I know that the more people that join in and pray, doors will be opened in a big way. Yes, God, I trust that things will become like the early church. Where You will also send in our day angels from heaven to help people who are in a bind and need a way out. People who are sick and don’t have much time left to live. People who have undergone very hard circumstances and just need hope restored and a new outlook in life. All this can be done when You step in, oh Lord. I know for a surety that the heavens are not closed up for miracles to happen in our day. I also know that angels are already ministering on earth and more of them would even show themselves to us if our faith was there. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and pointing me on Your righteous and holy path. It is my prayer that others will also come to know You as I have and also be saved. Therefore, shine Your light upon me that people will see You in me and want to know why my life is different. And lead me to people who are ready to receive You. Then, can I witness the hope of the gospel with them and lead them to follow You. You are able to do the rest if we just put ourselves out there in faith. Even by praying for one another, just as we need Your assistance in prayer. I believe in You, Jesus. I love You, Lord. Amen.
