Jesus Said He Is God: John 10

In John, chapter 10, Jesus said something that startled the Jewish people even to the point of them wanting to stone Him to death. What did He say, you might ask? That He and His Father are one. And to them, saying this meant that He is the one true God. But before we read these verses, let us see if the baby born of a virgin was supposed to be God in the flesh. Isaiah, chapter 9, reads, “for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6,7) How interesting that in these verses the Christ-child shall be called the counselor, the everlasting Father, and the mighty God. And who is the counselor? The Holy Spirit. Who is the everlasting Father? Our Father God. So how could Jesus have these persons in Him also? It is because of the Holy Trinity. We believe in the Holy Trinity. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three person’s in one God. Working as three, in perfect unity.

It was Jesus who said, “my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” (John 10:27-33) Here we have it. Jesus saying to the Jewish people that He and the Father are one. For this reason, they picked up stones ready to throw at Him. They thought for sure what He was saying was blasphemy, but really He was only fulfilling what we just read in Isaiah, chapter 9. It is clear that Jesus was only fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah, of His birth. That Jesus would come into the world and become our Prince of Peace, not to mention our most Wonderful God. The Bible speaks for itself on this matter and I believe that Jesus is God. Although most people did not believe this about Him, I know it is true. Those who hear His voice and follow Him are saved.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will come to know You the way that You always wanted.  That people will not just say they believe in You but make You the highest priority of their lives.  You do desire to do a mighty work in each of our lives, but only a few people allow this to happen.  And I just ask these people, why have they resisted to hear Your voice and follow You.  Each waking hour of our lives You are calling us to You, but people’s ears are closed off.  They can’t see the worth of doing Your will when the flesh is being pleased in the moment.  If people could just be given a vision of their judgment day, then all things would make sense to them.  People would no longer delay the day of their repentance or straddle the fence.  Too many people have one foot in the world and another in Your kingdom.  And where are their priorities?  Do they come home from school or work and get out their Bible to read it?  Do they begin to pray and bless You for another day?  If they did, then life would be much different in the world we live in.  There would be a lot less sin and people going down because of temptation.  Surely, the devil cannot hold a candle to your power in us, but this candle is only lit in certain individuals.  Will people allow You to light there’s?  This is what I am hoping and praying for.  As for me, my life is Yours.  Whatever You desire for me to do, I will go and do.  I am Yours.  I love You, Jesus.  Amen.
