The Forgiveness Of God Makes Us Clean

Did you know that without the forgiveness of God, then you are liable to pay for your sins come death? This is true, for a life of willful sin will keep people out of God’s kingdom, which is pure. Now, in Job 25, we do learn that everything is impure in God’s eyes. This is unless the blood of Jesus has covered them and they are now clean. People do come to Christ and are washed by His blood, but many of them soon fall back into sin and are unclean again. That is where repentance comes into play, though many people deny its importance. However, God loves a humble heart, a person that is sorry about what they have done and wants to get right with Him. People that do not repent are full of pride and need to be knocked down a little by God Himself, in order for Him to truly do a work in their lives. It is in our humility that we cry out to God for mercy. This is when we feel sorry for our sins and then turn from them and unto God for forgiveness. And unless a person does this, they will remain in their sins and be counted with the unbelievers come death. Paul said, 2“repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you.” (Acts 3:19,20) This leads us to the type of person who will repent of their sins. These people are humble and acknowledge that they have sinned against God. Therefore, they do all they can to get right with Him. Just as what was spoken of in Job 25, which we will get to next.

It is when we realize that we are unclean in God’s sight, is when a person of faith comes to God and is sorry for all they have done. Therefore, their desire to repent and be made clean once and for all is now in full force. Job 25 reads, 1“then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places. Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise? How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?” (Job 25) Although this is Bildad counseling Job wrongfully about sinning against God, which he wasn’t, what was said here still applies to anyone that is currently in sin. Everyone is filthy in God’s eyes unless they are walking in His statutes like Job was. It is through the blood of Jesus that our sins are washed away and we are made clean. However, when sin creeps into our lives, we are like worms, as Bildad said. Why worms? It is because worms are always found in dirt and mud, which is very unclean to us. Now, liken this to your own life. Without Jesus’s forgiveness, you are just like everyone else and are very filthy in God’s sight. However, if you have repented of your sins, by laying them down at the feet of the cross, then God has heard your prayers, and you are forgiven also. Turning from your sins and unto God instead is what every person must do to be saved and go to heaven someday.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will understand the need to get right with You even after baptism. That they will know the importance of repentance and not just live their own life of sin. I am afraid that too many people who say they are believers are really on the road to destruction and hell when they die because of their unwillingness to repent. Too many people are caught up in very wicked things of this world like pornography, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, drinking to get drunk, idolatry, lust, covetousness, and the sin of unforgiveness and more. Truly, the devil has a stronghold upon people of this age and they don’t even realize it. His clutches are driven in so deep that He has caused people to be blinded to their sins, that they are now justified in their own sight. But how can this be, God? Don’t people realize that their bodies are Your temples and that You are a holy and just God? That no unclean person can enter Your kingdom above? We cannot be made clean on our own, but only be washed by Your blood, Jesus. I know that You are my Redeemer and Lord of my life. I can only be made clean by what You did for me on the cross. Therefore, I submit myself to You daily in repentance, that I may be washed from any sins that I have committed. I accept that some things I did were very wrong and I am very sorry. It is my hope that I will not continue to willfully sin, but if I fall into sin, that I will come running to You for forgiveness. Only You can give me clean hands and a pure heart. So please continue to do a work in me and guide me on Your path of righteousness. I wish to go to heaven someday but know that only You can lead me there, God. I love You. Amen.
