The Building Of God’s House Began

If you’ve ever wanted to know how the house of the Lord was built in the days of Solomon, then 1 Kings 5, is a must-read. It describes in detail who was the main person over the project outside of Solomon. That Hiram was the person whom Solomon trusted in, in order to bring forth the wood and stones necessary to build God’s house. And this is how it all went down. Starting with verse 1, it reads, 1“and Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David. And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying, Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the Lord his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet. But now the Lord my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent. And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.” (1 Kings 5:1-5) He was then instructed to cut down the trees in Lebanon, in order to supply the wood. Then, 1“Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the Lord this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.” (1 Kings 5:7) He was destined to help Solomon in this ginormous task. The same can be said with people in our lives, who God places them there, in order to finish his work. Without people working together in God’s kingdom, much of God’s work on earth would be on hold.

So it was that 1“Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire. And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year. And the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.” (1 Kings 5:10-12) 1“And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains; Beside the chief of Solomon’s officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work. And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house. And Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.” (1 Kings 5:15-18) So the building of God’s house was finally underway. David would be very proud of his son, for this was his desire to build up God’s house from the beginning. Surely, he was smiling down from the heavens, along with the angels, and God Almighty. This house was built for a very special time on earth. It was in preparation of the coming Messiah, who is Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. The sacrifices that would take place on the alters thereof was to signify the ultimate sacrifice by Jesus on the cross. He is the lamb of God, who has come to save his people and the gentiles from their sins. I hope and pray that you know this to be true. And if you have not already, please consider giving your life to Jesus today.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will begin to come forth and desire to be used in Your kingdom. What is needed are workers who are humble and thirsty for whatever You have to throw at them. People that want to be used by You and don’t feel burdensome by it. This is the elect of God, whom You are able to do great things in Your kingdom. For people that in Your church, they do not sit idly by, while watching TV and playing video games, but keep themselves busy seeking You in prayer, reading the Bible, serving in the church, and witnessing on the streets and other places. Surely, Lord, You have given us a new heart, that has new desires along with it. We would never wish to waste our time on our phone, tablet, computer, or TV, but hope that You can use what we have for the building up of Your kingdom. And if things in our lives are not helping these efforts, we ask that You cast them out of our lives. Help us to always be aware of things that You love and that You hate also. For how can I say that I am on Your side if I am always seeking and going after the wrong things? This is not what it means to be born again, for if we were, we would despise what is evil and love what is good. We would continually go after things that You have called us to, and not what the world says is best for us. It isn’t superficial joy that makes us happy, but the joy that comes from heaven, which lifts our souls up with an abundance of great joy. So Lord, convict people of their sins, that they may stop sinning willfully, but begin to live for You instead. There is nothing hidden that You cannot see, which includes pornography and other sexual sins. These things must be eradicated and removed out of people’s hearts and minds, or else Your Spirit will never move in such people. So I pray that people will repent and be set free from their bondage. Set people free from their slavery to sin and renew them in the Holy Spirit. This I pray, Lord. In Your mighty Name, Jesus. Amen.
