False Prophets Have A Lying Spirit

In this world that we live in, there are many false prophets like unto the times of the Bible. People masquerade themselves to be men of God, but really they are wolves in sheep’s’ clothing. They speak vain words, that only the elect of God would know is wrong. And as in the past, there is a lying spirit from Satan in them. Sure, there are people with the gift of prophecy, which comes from the Holy Spirit, as if God was speaking, but this is rare in the times we live in. The reason is that we should be seeking Jesus now and not prophets. So if prophets come saying, follow me, like in Mormonism, it is wrong, for prophets never come saying follow me but God. However, prophets that say listen to the words of the Lord and follow Jesus, then this person may just very well be of a man of God. It is written in Hebrews that 2“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. (Hebrews 1:1,2) Jesus does speak unto us now, as He did in times past through prophets. However, this gift of prophecy is still important, for there are times when God wants to declare a message to people through us. This same thing happened in the times of Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah. It was in his days that he enquired of four hundred supposed prophets about going to war in Ramothigilead, where they said that he and the king of Israel would be spared. However, Jehoshaphat knew there was something fishy with these men, so he enquired of a different prophet, whom the king of Israel hated. So a messenger went and called Micaiah and said 1“behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of their’s, and speak thou good. And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.” (2 Chronicles 18:12,13) What he then said to the king will blow your mind, for you could tell God was speaking through this man. Praise the Lord.

Micaiah began by saying unto the king, 1“go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.” (2 Chronicles 18:1) The difference here is that the other prophets said that the king of Israel would be spared, but he said that he would be spared. He also 1“said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.” (2 Chronicles 18:16) 1“Therefore hear the word of the Lord; I saw the Lord sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left. And the Lord said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner. Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will entice him. And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so. Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil against thee.” (2 Chronicles 18:18-22) My friends, Micaiah spoke of Israel being scattered without a shepherd, who is Christ. Wow. He also said that a lying spirit came and enticed the prophets of the king of Israel, and they fell for his lies. It was then that the king of Israel put Micaiah in prison, because of what he said, however, he was soon released because the king of Israel would not be spared, as the true prophet spoke. In war, he was shot with an arrow and later died. Where, 1“Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.” (2 Chronicles 18:31) God always comes to our rescue when we cry unto Him. He also sends his servants to speak through Him, although we must be on our toes for many false prophets, like in Mormonism, are out in sheep’s clothing deceiving millions of people throughout the generations.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will have an ear to hear you, even in these dark times that we live in. May they study the Bible daily, that they may know Your Words and have them in their hearts. This is important for false prophets are in our midst. Surely, only You can give us ears to hear what is true and what is false in this world. We need eyes to see every false teaching that people proclaim. Surely, the eyes that You have given us, allows us to see things that are only for the unseen. The lies of Satan no longer have us bound, for we are now in Your arms, ready to fight the good fight of righteousness. Lord, I know that many people are deceived in these last days because of false prophets in these many false religions. I was a part of one of them in Mormonism for many years, and I can now see the bondage I was under while in that cult. Surely, I had no clue what it meant to follow You, Jesus, for I was always told to follow the prophets. I was even trained at a young age in that church to sing the song, “follow the Prophet, follow the Prophet, don’t go astray”. And I thought that was right. It seemed so good to trust in a man for answers. But, oh how wrong I was. These were the darkest times of my life, where sin abounded. Even my addiction to pornography would not get better but get worse. Lord, You know how bad my marriage got as well. There was continued arguing and fighting over the dumbest things. It wasn’t until I finally gave You my life, Jesus, that everything changed. As I began to seek Your hand and not a man, did I find a relationship that was missing. I found peace in the storms of life. Even the more I came to know You in prayer, and in Your Word, did I have more joy in my everyday life. What I was missing in my marriage and in my personal life was You, Lord. Now I can’t help but tell everyone about Jesus, for You are our Lord God and Savior. If I can be saved from a life of sin and unbelief in Mormonism, anyone can. I love You, Lord. Amen.

Hebrews 1
2Hebrews 1 (KJV)
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
