Remembering Jesus’s Birth On Christmas

Christmas has been set for the date of December 25th for centuries now. It is a wonderful time of the year to get together as a family and remember Jesus’s birth. However, non-Christians and even so-called Christians have added to what the world says is Christmas to the same day. These things are Santa Claus, the north pole, reindeer, elves, and presents from Santa. All this is very similar to Jesus, heaven, his angels, and gifts from God. As you can see here, one type of person gives their attention to a false god like the figurative person in Santa, while Jesus and His birth are remembered by believers. To mix these things together is not giving God worship at all, but to false gods, of which He hates. Now, the problem is not that people celebrate Christmas on December 25th, but how it is celebrated. If Jesus is the reason for the season and Santa is excluded, then it is a holy day unto God. However, if Santa and his gifts are the reason for the season, then it is a pagan day for the world. Sure, some people may say that we cannot celebrate Christmas, for the world does also. Well, this would be true if we were celebrating it like the world does. However, since we are not, then God is being glorified. Think of it this way, while the day is different for the people in the world, it is lightened up because of the celebration of Jesus’s birth. Therefore, darkness is scattered.

There is nothing wrong with doing good on a day that is evil for the world. Why is this? It is because doing this brings the light of Jesus into the world. Therefore, celebrating Jesus and His birth is giving God the glory that He deserves. We could easily celebrate His birth any other time of the year, but isn’t it nice that it is set on the same day of Christmas for the world? Now, God’s light is still shining, while darkness is in the lives of people in the world. And as Christians, if you celebrate Jesus’s birth on Christmas, or not, it is still fine. As long as you are seeking God daily and giving Him the glory, that is what matters. As a Christian, I still tell people merry Christmas, for this holiday is about Jesus to Christians. I am then able to help them understand why I give them this greeting. So in saying all of this, let us now read a verse from the Bible, which will help you understand what I am saying. Paul said, 1“let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.” (Colossians 2:16) As you can see, we are not to judge people on holy days. And if Christmas is about Jesus, then it is a holy day, but if it is about Santa and gifts, then it is a pagan holiday and a tradition of men. We can then judge this type of day. So remember that a day appointed to God is more than Ok with Him, for it is praiseworthy.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, it is my pleasure to call upon You now. You have been so good to me all these years and I am so grateful. Thank You for being there for me, when I’ve needed You most. You’ve heard my cries and have delivered peace to my soul many times over. Not once have you forsaken me, when I have needed You. I love Your presence and how You are leading me in my life now through Your love and compassion. It is so good to know that I am on the right path, because of my faith in You, Jesus. You have called me by name and I have come unto You in all faithfulness. Now, what You have done with me is extraordinary. You’ve seen past all my sins and extended Your mercy. Though my life was far from You, You’ve given me a life of purity. Even a life pleasing in Your sight. I could never walk in Your light like this on my own, but only with You guiding me by Your hand, I am more than able. Thank You for opening my eyes to the evils of this world and for showing me things that are pure and holy from above. All I want to do now is please You and give You the glory. I do not wish to find pleasure in what the world offers anymore, but what You can do for my life. For this reason is my mind focused this time of year on You, Jesus, and Your birth. May more people remember You also. I love You, Lord. I give You the praise and the glory that You deserve. Amen.

Colossians 2
Colossians 2 (KJV)
For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
(Touch not; taste not; handle not;
Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
