Jesus’s Birth According To Matthew

The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is the best thing to ever take place on this earth. Because our God came in the flesh, we now have forgiveness of sins. For this reason, I can’t help but praise Him, for he is so good. Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. His birth is what Christians remember this time of year, for it is the most uplifting thing we could ever think about. It is this reason why, as believers in Christ, we read the story of His birth and go to see different manger scenes. It just warms our hearts to know that He came for us. So without further ado, lets read in Matthew 1 about His birth. It begins with, 1“now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.” (Matthew 1:18-19) Now just imagine how you would have felt if your fiancee was pregnant and you weren’t the father. This would be devastating, as it was for Joseph in the moment that he found out this news.

As we continue to read in Matthew, chapter 1, we learn why Joseph married Mary after what he found out about her from an angel. It says that before Joseph could cut off his relationship with Mary, an angel appeared unto Him in a dream. This is that encounter, 1“but while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.” (Matthew 1:20-25) What a wonderful story of how Jesus came into this world, given to us by the hand of Matthew.

You could just imagine how Joseph must have felt when the angel of the Lord appeared unto Him in his dream. I’ve had some good dreams before, but this one is extraordinary. And if there is one important takeaway from this encounter it is what the angel told Joseph. That the baby was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. No earthly man was involved with his wife sexually, but the hand of God alone. He even got the name that He should call his son, which is Jesus, from this angelic messenger from God. Of which he also explained that people will know him as Emmanuel, which is God with us. This is so amazing that God did come in the flesh to be with us. Wow. God is so good. Now, the best part of the entire encounter with the angel was what he said about Jesus saving his people from their sins. This is the gospel message, of which we preach. Jesus did come down and died for the sins of the world on the cross. His people, meaning all those that come unto Him, are called the sons and daughters of God. Now, if you are thankful for what Jesus has done for you, give Him praise. Glorify His great Name in songs of praise.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, my God, I am so humbled to call upon Your Name. I’ve been thinking of Your birth and I am so grateful. Thank You for coming down to earth, in order to save us from our sins. We would be lost if You had never came. I am so grateful to know that the God I serve did come as prophesied of. You were the answer to the prayers of the people of Israel for centuries and are now the answer to the prayers of every Christian. Thank You, Lord, for coming down and rescuing us from a life of sin. What You did for us on the cross gives meaning to my life and others. I no longer have to live in fear, for You have forgiven me of my sins. There is no more guilt or shame because You have come and filled me up with Your love. My sadness has turned into gladness, for You have saved me. My soul is now uplifted because You are here with me. Thank You, God. My life is now on course. I have a light ahead of me and the Holy Spirit is my guide. May You always be with me and never leave my side. Convict me of my sins, that I may repent. I don’t want to grieve the Spirit, but to walk in Your holiness. So fill me up with Your righteousness, that I may be Your hands and feet upon this earth. I love You, Lord. All the praise and glory to Your great Name. I am amazed at everything You have done for me. Amen.

  1. If you loved the Son and the Father it might be reasonable to use their proper names, otherwise you are perpetuating a lie by using the name of a pagan deity. These are the last days, and I am amazed at the lies that continue to be fed to the collective. You are to fear the name YAHUAH, but keep his name in your mind, but you cannot do that unless you go through His Son, YASHUAH HA MASIACH. Essentially, you are a false teacher too.

Otherwise, I will be forced to block you. One thing God hates is people that cause contention among those in the faith. Of which I can see is coming from you. Please repent and allow the Lord to be the judge.

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
