Garments, Temples, Prophets, And The Law Of Moses

This message is about the garments that were to be worn in God’s tabernacle. However, before I get started, I do have a quick question for ex-Mormons and Christians. Have you ever wondered why the Mormon church members where garments? If so, then look no further than Exodus, chapter 28. Maybe if these people were living under the law of Moses, then would their under clothing make some sense, but not really since the Bible describes an entirely different type of garment to be used in the tabernacles of old. Here is that description, 1“these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle.” (Exodus 28:4) These garments were made up of 1“gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.” (Exodus 28:5) There were different gem stones on them as well, with the names of the children of Israel. There is much more to their appearance as well. The Mormon garments, however, are all white with a letter V (or compass) and an L (or square) sown on them. As you can see, the Mormon Church is trying to resemble what the Israelites did in the Old Testament. This is because they have a temple of their own now. However, all this is for not, since their garments are invalid and temples are no longer needed. This is because, as Paul said, 4“God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands.” (Acts 17:24)

In the church that Jesus set up, not people, we are now the temple of the living God. Paul confirmed this by saying, 5“know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16,17) It is important to know this fact and that the laws of Moses, which pertain to the tabernacle on earth are no more. This is because these laws and ordinances found in their tabernacles were fulfilled with the coming of Jesus Christ, our Lord, in the world. Jesus even spoke on this, when He said, 2“think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” (Matthew 5:17) He also clarified this further, when He said, 3“the law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.” (Luke 16:16) We must understand that looking into the laws of God unto Moses, were only for a time on earth. This was until that very purpose came to an end with Christ coming into the world. The same can be said for the mantle of the prophet over the people. Though we still have the gift of prophesy as one of the spiritual gifts from God, these prophets are not over anyone, but only God. This is because we are now under God’s laws given through Jesus Christ now.

Jesus is our God and who we should be seeking in His church. This is because He is at the head of it, and not the corruption of man. Every believer is simply a member of His body. Anything else is corrupt and defiled by man’s wicked hands. Paul also said that 6“there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5) So because Jesus is now our guide, the mantle of a prophet or being a spokesperson for God unto the people was taken away, but not the gift itself. God still reveals things to certain Holy Spirit filled believers, but they are only acting like other people of God would, like those that heal. All this makes sense as we read more from God’s Word. So let us learn what Paul said here, 7“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.” (Hebrews 1:1,2) So how can we know the way, it is by heading what God said through Jesus and the apostles in the books of the New Testament, for this is when the Lord setup his church. The Old Testament is still good for our learning, as it points us to Christ, the Messiah coming into the world, in order to save the people from their sins. So as you begin to read the Bible daily, all this will make more sense. Keep seeking God, and you will know what things apply to us now and what does not. God bless you.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people that say they are of the faith will desire to learn from You always and not man. May they understand that there are many false prophets in this world, and we ought to be seeking You through Your Words, in order to know what is true and what is false. It is my wish to not lead anyone astray, and I wish others would feel the same way. Surely, many people have told me, “let me just believe the way I believe in and you can do the same”, or, “I will just keep believing in what I believe in and then in judgment we will find out who was right”. This is very disturbing, God. Especially since these people would rather keep believing in what their current church or religion is telling them, rather than what the Bible says. When speaking with these people, so many times do they not want to hear what Your Word says about certain things, but when asked about what they’ve learned from their teachers and prophets, they speak the world about them and their teachings. How disconcerting this is. Truly, people would rather feel good about they are doing and believing, then to be led to safety. They don’t know the dangers they are in by following after what people are telling them, especially if it doesn’t stack up with the Bible. Surely, we can get the wrong conclusion about You, Your gospel, and Your teachings, when corruption is at the heart of people. Oh, how I wish to take these lost souls by the hand and lead them to Your light, but I need Your help. Nothing can change for the better if the Holy Spirit is not doing the convicting in their lives. So fill me this day and forever with the Spirit of God. Use me to bring lost souls unto You for salvation. I wish that many souls would be saved in Your Kingdom, oh Lord. I love You God. I trust in You. Amen.

Let us read the Bible:

2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.

10 Six of their names on one stone, and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.
11 With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold.

26 And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them upon the two ends of the breastplate in the border thereof, which is in the side of the ephod inward.
27 And two other rings of gold thou shalt make, and shalt put them on the two sides of the ephod underneath, toward the forepart thereof, over against the other coupling thereof, above the curious girdle of the ephod.
28 And they shall bind the breastplate by the rings thereof unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may be above the curious girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate be not loosed from the ephod.

30 And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the Lord: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the Lord continually.
31 And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue.
32 And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an habergeon, that it be not rent.
33 And beneath upon the hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:
34 A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about.

42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:
43 And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.

2Matthew 5:17-22 (KJV)
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

3Luke 16:13-18 (KJV)
13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

4Acts 17:22-30 (KJV)
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

51 Corinthians 3:6-21 (KJV)
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your’s;

61 Timothy 2:1-8 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

7Hebrews 1:1-14 (KJV)
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
