Do What God Loves Not Hates

If you know and love the Lord, then You will also hate what He hates. This means getting to know what God’s Word says on this topic and being vigilant in your knowledge in these things. This way you will always strive to do what God wants for your life and never willfully go against Him. In saying this, Solomon taught the following… 1“These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” (Proverbs 6:16-19) Each one of these things are evil and we should stay away from doing them, and also warn others also. Being proud will keep you from learning the ways of the Lord. Lying will keep you away from knowing God and people won’t be able to trust you also. Shedding innocent blood happens every day in abortion and the blood they shed is upon their own heads. Having evil desires is one thing, but lustful thoughts towards others is adultery in the eyes of God. If you are not doing His will, then you are bound to walk in your own flesh, which is mischief in His eyes. To say that you know the truth about God, but do it for money, fame or your religion anyways, these lies are upon your heads. Those are all things that God hates, of which causing strife, divisions, seeds of discord, and contention among those that love God, is an abomination to Him.

Now that you know what God hates and of which is an abomination to Him, it is important to respond to Him accordingly. We do this by repenting of any of the things that are mentioned above, if they are present in our lives now. We don’t just wait and procrastinate the day that we confess our sins in prayer, for that would only stir up more wrath upon us as sinners. A willful sinner wouldn’t care about being saved and repenting, but a humble person that accepts Christ will. These are the same people that are sick and tired of the lies that the world feeds them and are ready to walk in God’s light instead. For that reason, Paul desired 2“that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:5) Being wise in what the world teaches will only confuse you when it comes to following God. Therefore, it is fine to know about the things of this world, but not be a part of what is wicked. There is so much good that God wants to focus our minds on instead. And if you love God, then doing His will, will become a priority for Your life. Surely, 2“eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:9,10) Therefore, seek the Lord first in Your life, that You may be led by the Holy Spirit. In doing this, you will not do what God hates, but what He loves instead.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will desire to learn follow You, by reading the Bible daily and praying to You often. It is one thing to know what the world teaches, but to follow those things is another. We need to be vigilant in knowing what is right and what is wrong, by way of what You have taught us, that we may walk in Your righteous path. Otherwise, we will only gain the wisdom of man and ultimately do things that You hate. I know this to be true, for I was once far from You and full of pride. In my sinful state did I think that I could just get away with my sins. I thought that what I was doing was pleasing to the flesh and if I was wrong, I could just repent later. How foolish I had become. Surely, because of sexual sin, my desire to know You was given over to pornography and adultery instead. And that was not doing any good for me, but harmful to my self-worth and my marriage. You saw me in this wicked state and wished that I would return to You, but my eyes and ears were turned form You. It was my flesh that was getting in the way of being saved. However, when all these things started crashing down on me, I knew that You had given me another chance. People may not trust me for a while, because of what I had done, but I knew that You could. In prayer, I came to You in my brokenness and You heard my cries. I was so sorry for everything I had done and wished to be forgiven. I wanted to start over and be cleansed from all my sins, and You did it. You had mercy upon my soul that day and put me on the right path. I was so foolish in my thinking, but now I am wise in Your ways, oh Lord. Thank You for Your compassion for a sinner like me. I can never repay what You did for me, but stand up for You as a witness. I love You. Amen.

1Proverbs 6:16-29 (KJV)
16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
20 My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.
27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

21 Corinthians 2 (KJV)
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
