Being Used As God’s Instrument

The calling of God to Moses was great indeed and could only be accomplished by continued trust in the Lord God Almighty. Otherwise, if His faith was weak, then another person would have been used in the effort of freeing the Israelite people from the hands of the Egyptians. Just like our own callings from God, it is up to us to fulfill them or not. Now, with Moses, it was amazing to see how he started out and then ended his journey. However, to tell you what Moses did, let us first look at what happened in the beginning. More specifically, what happened when he entered the mountain of God. It was this time in his life that his faith was not grounded yet, but still God saw his potential and desired to use him. As he stepped foot into this mountain, he could not stop staring at a bush that was on fire, but was not consumed. This was when the Lord God or 1“the angel of the Lord”, appeared to him in that bush. It was then that he said, “draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:5) 1“I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.” (Exodus 3:6) And this was the reason why God appeared to him. He said, 1“I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians.” (Exodus 3:7,8) Because of the afflictions of his people, Moses was to rescue them, by God’s hand. It is important to note that Moses was only God’s vessel in His plan.

You may ask why God responded to the needs of his people. Well, it wasn’t just because they were afflicted, but because they called upon Him in prayer for help. God told Moses that 1“the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.” (Exodus 3:9) So yes, God cares about us and it hurts Him to see us be in pain and go through trials, however, when we call upon His Name in prayer, this is when He responds to our needs. And you may wonder how he responds. Well, it can be a miracle, but it can also be through people that God puts in our lives. This was the case for Moses. He was a person that God had watched over the years and it wasn’t until this time that he was ready for his next steps with God in His life. Although he was only a man, God was to be the instrument in His life, in order to accomplish His mission. Now, you may ask if Moses questioned anything in regards to what he had to do, and that answer is yes. He 1“said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11) God’s answer was something so amazingly simply but perfect in every sense of the word. He said,1 “certainly I will be with thee.” (Exodus 3:12) Just knowing this changes everything. For, we don’t have to do everything on our own, for God is doing the work inside of us. He just asks that we are used as His instrument. He then does the speaking and the actions through us. For Moses, he just needed to allow God to stretch forth his hand and smite Egypt, and then the people would go free. For us, we also trust that as we go forth in faith, that He will do the work.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will all be ready to receive Your calling for our lives. Yes, Lord, I know that the day that I gave my life to You, was the day that my life new life began. And doing this, I am ready to go all in and serve You in any way that You would please. May Your presence rest upon me and give me the strength I need to fulfill Your mission in my life. I trust in You, Jesus and need Your guidance and direction through the Holy Spirit. It has been made known to me how lost this world has become and it is saddens me to think of where their destiny will be, if they were to die in their lost state. Therefore, I am willing to devote my time and effort into searching out the lost and finding the one person who is willing to come unto You. Even if I have to speak to thousands of people and only lead a dozen of them to You, I know that Your work has been done. In these things do I give You all the glory. I am not deserving of any praise, but give it all to You, my Lord. Take my willing hands and use them for Your glory. Teach me to walk in Your ways, that Your light may shine forth. I desire that every person that I encounter will know that I serve You, Lord. They need to know that there is salvation in Your Name Jesus. And if any of these people are interested in discussing why, I am happy to witness more of Your abundant truths from the Bible with them. I love You Lord. Your ways are my ways. Simply lead me to where I need to go and I will obey. I am Your witness and am here now to bring souls unto You, Jesus. May all the world know that only You can save them. You have the power to free us from our sins and lead us from death and unto life. I trust in You, Lord and I say these things in thy holy Name, Jesus. Amen.
