The Laborers In God’s Harvest Are Few

I often wonder what it would be like to see more people that are willing to be God’s witnesses to the lost. This is my dream, indeed! Truly, if people were seeking God, listened to God’s commands and then did what He said, then this would not be a dream, but a reality. However, it is because the world has come first and God has come second that everything is different. Instead of God making disciples of us, many so-called Christians are only believers in word and not deed. This is because people have made the things they enjoy in life an idol, while less and less people are out serving the Lord on the streets. As I go out each Friday night, I look around and see so many people that are lost, just looking to do something that would make them happy and fulfill their lusts. Instead of allowing the Lord to lead them to the joy they need, substitutes have been made, which always end up in guilt and shame. So what we have here are people that know about Jesus, but do not do as He says. Other things have instead taken their interests and they’d rather obey them than God himself. Jesus said it this way, 2“and this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” (John 3:19,20) The reason why laborers are few is because few people are saved. Those that truly know Jesus and follow Him are the ones that bear witness of Him also. They do not sit around at home watching TV, but are continuously seeking God and studying the Bible. These are those that have God’s Words in their hearts and pray continuously, so that when He calls them, they are ready to go out and be His witness.

What a person needs is boldness and God’s strength to carry them, who desires to go out in God’s harvest. They are then able to be a light for Christ and bear His Name to the world. No person can be an evangelist that doesn’t truly walk in His light, but seek the lusts of the flesh. Therefore, every witness should confess their sins to the Lord God, that they may be forgiven, before expecting the Holy Spirit to encourage them and show them the way. Doing this is an indication that we love God and will do anything for Him. The can also be said for the seventy men that Jesus sent out as a witness for Him. It reads, 1“after these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.” (Luke 10:1-3) One thing that you will notice here is that these men were following Jesus and when He called them, it was important to them to obey Him and do His will. Another thing that is important to realize is that these men that were saved were few, while other souls were lost in the harvest. With their being said, with less of us and many more people that are unsaved, it will take more people of faith to reach them. This is the reason that we need more witnesses for Jesus on the streets. This way more souls would draw near unto Christ and be saved. I love to go out and share the good news of the gospel, but myself and another people with me can never reach all of our city for Christ. So because of this issue, I am calling all believers to join me in this effort.

In my brief time on the streets yesterday, I was able to talk to four different groups of people. The first being, two young adult men that were seeking God, but were confused about salvation and why homosexuality is wrong. So to answer their concerns we read from Romans, chapter 1, starting with verses 24 through 32. It was God’s Word that helped them realize that this lifestyle is wrong. The next man also had a problem with homosexuality and reading from God’s Word helped him understand that it was a sin also. This helped him realize that only Jesus could set him free and nothing he could do on his own would help him. So I encouraged him to confess his sins to God in prayer, that He may help change his ways. After this person, I met another man, who was Mormon. And although he wanted to talk, he was on his way downtown, getting ready to perform on his digital piano. So I asked if I could walk and talk with him and he said OK. So I mentioned some things that the Bible teaches that go against what his church teaches. They were, being forgiving by the blood of Jesus before he was born, how there is no marriage in heaven, and how God doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, since we are the temple of God. This went very well, but soon I realized that there was something more pressing in his life to discuss. This was his addiction to smoking and homosexual lifestyle. After we talked for a while, it was then time to pray for him. The amazing thing is, that he also prayed and asked for God’s forgiveness. Later, he also wanted demons cast out of him, which a friend of mine and I did in Jesus’s Name. His complexion then changed and when he played, it was all about Jesus in his songs. This experience and the last one I had about loving Jesus was amazing. The Lord truly did a remarkable thing that night, of which I will never forget. All the glory goes to God.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will respond to Your calling in their lives. I know that every person that believers in You for salvation, also has spiritual gifts given to them, in order to do Your will. We are all a part of Your church and our willingness to serve You matters most. I know how many people I see in a church buildings, but very few of them that are Your witnesses. So I wonder Lord, what is taking precedence in their lives. Is doing Your will important to these so-called believers, or is it only a show, come church service. It would truly be amazing to see all those people that raise their hands up in worship to You, to be also Your disciple and reach someone with the gospel. So I ask this day, that anything that is stopping a person from becoming Your witness to repent. May they examine their lives before You and allow Your blood to cover their sins. Addiction can truly way us down and keep us far distant from You. Therefore, I pray that people will be ready and willing to give up any wicked lifestyle, in order to be made righteous in You. I know that You are waiting on us all to do our part and then You will do the rest. The same way that You heard my prayers and changed all my ways, is the same thing You will do for anyone that puts their trust in You, Lord. Doing Your will and serving You in Your harvest brings me the greatest joy. I have never been so happy as when I serve You and see souls draw nearer to You, Jesus. This is what people are missing out on and I pray that this changes, starting today. I pray for laborer’s in Your harvest and know that the Holy Spirit will do the convicting in people’s lives. You are my God and I trust in You. I love You Lord. Amen.

1Luke 10:1-11 (KJV)
1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

2John 3:16-21 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
