Jacob Blessed Judah

As Jacob was getting older in age, he knew that his days were numbered, therefore he decided that it was time to bless each of his sons. This is recorded in Genesis, chapter 49 and begins with, 1“and Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.” (Genesis 49:1) As you can see in this introduction, these blessings speak of future events, when it comes to the future of each tribe of Israel. However, for the sake of this message, we will focus on the blessing given to Jacob’s son Judah. Why is this? It is because both Mary and Joseph came from the lineage of Judah and therefore, our Lord Jesus Christ did as well. As for Mary, it is recorded, 2“the book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom” (Matthew 1:1-3). And as for Joseph, a part of his genealogy speaks of him coming from Judah as well. Here is that portion, 3“which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda.” (Luke 3:33) Knowing this makes the blessing given to Judah that much more important. This is especially true since this blessing speaks of Jesus, our Lord, in detail. As we read the blessing, you will understand the importance of Judah and his lineage. Please know that God can use any person, even Judah, to fulfill His purposes on earth.

The blessing that Jacob bestowed upon Judah says the following. 1“Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee. Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.” (Genesis 49:8-12) What a blessing this was indeed. We learn that from Judah, will come a man called, “Shiloh”, whom his followers will praise. Through this important figure, who is Jesus, will all people be gathered like a lion who safely gathers his cubs. While Jesus was on earth, he rode on an ass into Jerusalem, as it was prophesied of. 4All people will one day bow down to and worship the Lord God, if not in this life, but in judgement. Our enemies have no match over the Lord and with His presence in people’s lives, as we are able to withstand temptation. 5When Jesus returns, his garments will be red, dipped in blood, while his eyes will be red like fire. All this was foretold long before Jesus came into this world. Get ready, for Jesus is our Savior and is coming soon.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, it is a blessing to know You. Thank You for allowing me to have another chance in life and for my sins to be forgiven. It is through Your blood that my whole life has been changed and I am eternally grateful. Where I had no way to overcome sin, You gave me power to resist the temptations of the evil. It is because of Your strength in my life that I have found freedom from my addictions. You have surely done great things in my life. All the praise and glory to Your holy Name, Jesus. Thank You dear God for breaking the chains of bondage in my life and for raising me up into Your light. Surely, Your power to save is amazing and has taken a sinner like me and transformed me to live like You. It is Your holiness that I now see and I can never have enough time with You in Your Words, the Bible, and in prayer. It is Your counsel and guidance that I need to be happy. There is joy found in Your hands, oh Lord. It is my desire to have less of me and more of You, every day of my life. Take every evil thought captive and replace those thoughts with things that are holy. May Your holiness reside upon me, that others may see Your good works and desire to follow You also. Allow Your love to fall down upon all people I encounter. I pray that they experience the same joy that You have given to me and also desire to have the joy You give in their life also. I know that only roads that lead to You, Jesus, is for salvation, while all others lead to destruction. I love You Lord. Amen.

4Philippians 2:1-13 (KJV)
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

5Revelation 19:11-21 (KJV)
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
