Jesus Taught Us How To Live Our Lives

In John, chapter 7, Jesus taught us so many things about how to live our lives for Him, in order to be saved. In this message, we will cover each of these things, in order to know the Lord and His desires for us. More specifically, we learn that every Christian ought to know that God see’s everything. Therefore, we ought to repent and forsake all our sins at the foot of Jesus today. We could die at any time and nobody knows when they could take their last breath. So why waste your time in doing things that God hates, but instead follow Jesus. Nobody knows when Jesus will return, so we ought to prepare now instead of later. Come out of this world, for what it offers is evil in the sight of God. Don’t seek to lift up yourself but God alone, who is able to save you. Judge not by what you see, but instead, seek God that what you say will influence people for His good, even if it hurts. This we do, by way of the Holy Spirit. As we come unto the Lord and receive the living waters, the Spirit of God comes into our lives like a fire. It penetrates our lives and directs our paths. By relying on the Lord, we will be on the right path that leads to salvation in heaven.

■ To begin with, let’s begin with verse 4, Jesus said that nothing is done in secret. If you believe in Him, then allow God to know you openly. Hold nothing back with your confessions and your desires for Him. As you turn from your sins and repent, the Lord will be merciful, as to forgive you. He will then come inside of you and set a fire in your life. Share this love for God with the world. Please read this verse below:

John 7:4 (KJV)
4 For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.

■ In verse 6, Jesus taught that His death was not to happen yet. There was still time for Him to do His work and teach the people, before He was to be raised up on the cross and die for our sins. However, when it comes to us, our time to die could be any time. We are not invincible but could die when we least expect it. Please read this verse below:

John 7:6 (KJV)
6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

■ In verse 7, we learn that the world does not hate you but Jesus. This is because the Lord God testifies against all of its evil. Those that are in the world are not for God. For they have chosen to be satisfied with things like pornography, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, drugs, alcohol and other things that worldly people do, that God hates. Please read this verse below:

John 7:7 (KJV)
7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

■ In verse 18, we learn about people that only want to lift themselves up, in order to look good in life. But then we learn about those that would rather seek to know the glory of God and lift Him up instead. There is big difference in such people’s lives, for only those that lift up the Lord and His glory are considered righteous in God’s eyes. Please read this verse below:

John 7:18 (KJV)
18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

■ In verse 24, we learn about not judging others just because of what they look like. Instead, use righteous judgement when speaking to people. This happens when we know of a person’s sin and approach them about it with the Holy Spirit and much love. We know how it affects their salvation and therefore come to them, in order to help lead them away from sin and to God. God has helped us, so we do the same for others. Please read this verse below:

John 7:24 (KJV)
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

■ In verse 27, we learn that nobody knows the date or time when Jesus will return in His Second Coming. Therefore, we are to prepare for that day every day of our lives, by reading the Bible and praying often. We do this as Christians, in order to know Jesus better and to do His will and not our own. We seek to abide in the Lord and have the Holy Spirit in our lives. This we do, in order to be led by God, our King. Please read this verse below:

John 7:27 (KJV)
27 Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.

■ In verses 37 through 39, we learn about Jesus and His great love for us. How He calls us to come unto Him and drink. In His hands are living waters, so He asks us to spend time with Him, that we may no longer be thirsty. These living waters are the Holy Spirit, of which God wants to give everyone freely that truly believes in Him. What a blessed gift from the Lord. Now, as Jesus is glorified in Heaven, after His resurrection, we now have this opportunity to have the Spirit of God in our lives. Please read the verses below:

John 7:37-39 (KJV)
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

May these verses sink into your heart. Allow what Jesus has taught us to convict you of your sins and more importantly, to follow Him. We only have so much time on this earth, so it is so important that we are made right with God today. Don’t ever think that You are hiding anything from Him, for the Lord God see’s everything. Don’t let anything be left out of your confessions, for you will be accountable for these things in judgement. This is why it is so important to cry out to God and allow Him break every chain and to cleanse us of every sin now. Then we will understand the need to live a righteous life for God. Jesus is coming soon, so we ought to prepare to meet Him. This we do by coming unto Jesus fully and allow the Holy Spirit to penetrate our lives. We may not have the power to resist temptation on our own, but with the Spirit of God in our lives we can do all things. This is the living water that Jesus has prepared for us. We are not alone, but have the Lord God to bear us up in all things. Seek His hand and He will do mighty things in your life. Even the lost will be reached for His kingdom through Your hand and His, and only righteous judgements will be made. For how can we say and do things that are evil, when the Lord is leading us. The Lord is my light and my strength. He will be yours also, when you give your whole life to Him.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, it is truly a blessing to know You. I believe in You God, for I know that no one else has the power to save. I no longer lift up myself but only You, Jesus. May Your will be done in my life. I know that You see everything and for that reason, I wish to be known by You also. If anything in my life is evil in your sight, cast it out of me today. I no longer wish to be of this world but serve You only. I could die today, but in saying that I would be happy, for I chose to follow You, Jesus, who saves. I know that Your coming is soon, and therefore, I don’t wish to only be saved but to also find the lost, that they may be rescued as well. Give me eyes to see people for who they really are. And may I love them as You love us all. The Spirit of God is what I need Lord, more than anything. For without it, I cannot do anything that is good, for I am lost also. You are my light and Your words are a lamp unto my feet. Continue to take me by the hand and lead me in Your ways always. I am here to drink of the living waters, of which you hold, so fill me up this day. I know that in You, Jesus, I will never be thirsty again. For what You offer, sustains me day in and day out. I have everything I need with You. You are my Lord and my God. There is nothing greater in this life than to follow You and to witness to people of Your great name. I love You Lord. Amen.
