In The Beginning Was The Word

In John, Chapter 1, we learn so much about our coming Messiah. Although His birth may not be described as in Matthew and Luke, His coming into the world is described in great detail. We learn that Jesus is the Messiah, who was prophesied of years ago in the Old Testament. That He is the Word and is God. He was with the Father from the beginning of time. 1“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” Yes, Jesus is the creator of all things and having this knowledge is important. Many false doctrines can take place when the Father is said to be the creator and not the Son. We also learn that 1“in him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” This is so true and is vital to understand, in order to be saved. It is only through Jesus that we have life. The light of this world comes from Him and scatters all the darkness. Those that are deep into sin do not understand the importance of God and what He can do for their lives. However, those that turn from their sins and trust in Him will experience the greatest joy of all. His light will carry them through life and into eternity in heaven. Without Him, we are lost and will remain so unless we repent and trust in Jesus. Those that deny this opportunity will experience a life of torment in hell. You have a decision to make. You can either continue to live a life of sin and experience the things of this world or trust in Jesus, who saves. There is limits on our joy, while in the flesh, but with God, His joy never ends.

John bore witness of the light of Christ. He 1“was a man sent from God” and prepared the way for the Lord. 1“He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” I also bear witness that Jesus is the Christ and the light of this world. Speaking of Jesus being the creator, John continues, 1“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” As you can see, it is re-emphasized that Jesus created this world. The same people he created did not know Him personally because they did not receive Him. These are the lost, that feel content without God. However, there is a promise for those that believe in Jesus as Lord. It says, 1“but as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Every person that gives their life to Christ and believes in Him are called His children and He is their Father. These are those that are reborn in the Spirit, through the power of God. Lastly, we learn that 1“the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. These words are true. We may not have lived in Jesus’s time but all those that come unto Him will behold His glory. We then know that Jesus is the begotten Son of the Father. That we are saved by His grace. That all truth comes from Him.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am so amazed at what I have learned from Your Words. The Bible has truly transformed my life. It is a lamp unto my feet and has the map for my life. I know that through its words that You are our Creator. Yes, Jesus, I know that all things were created by You. You are our mighty God, Creator and Father. All power and glory is in Your Name. I am so grateful to know You and to have You in my life. I receive You, God, with all my heart and soul. There is light that my life needs and that light only resides in You. I can find things that fulfill the lusts of the flesh but I always come out of it empty. Shame fills my life and I am broken inside. It is when I pray and come to You in repentance that Your light comes back into my life and all the darkness is scattered. I know that my life is made full with You in it. I am reborn through Your almighty power. This is the life I need and therefore, I trust in You always. My flesh is weak while on my own but with You in it, I am strong. Your righteousness consumes me and I am built up to fight against every sin and temptation. You are my rock and my shield. Therefore, I will stand tall in Christ the Lord. I love You God. Amen.
