Pride

It is when we walk with a proud look, is when more wrong than good takes place. Even when we feel like our life is certain and we could never go astray from God is when we are bound to stumble and fall flat on our face. Never think that you are invincible when it comes to sin. When your armor is off, is when Satan will try you until you fall. And I mention the times when our armor is off because, with a proud look, we often feel like we can do things on our own. That is when we get into trouble. Let us learn what God said He would do to those that walk so proudly. Speaking of the daughters of Zion, Isaiah recorded, 1“What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord God of hosts. Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.” You may say that these women were not for God but of the world but we are also the same way when our arrogance gets the best of us as well. Even a follower of God can fall because of pride.

As you may have seen from the quote above from Isaiah, God’s wrath is upon those that are proud. Even Jesus makes mention about pride and how it causes us to sin. He said, 2“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.” What Jesus said may not have hit you before, for sexual sin, murdering, steeling, coveting and such things seem so much worse. However, pride falls into the same category. Why is this? Because pride causes a person to forget God as much as any sin does to a person. We are not following Christ, if we are walking in our own ways and not the light of Jesus. As you read more in Isaiah 3, you will notice that because these women decided to forgo God and walk in their own wicked and vile ways, God’s just punishments were upon them. To think that God does not care is to lie to oneself. The Lord does not allow any form of wickedness in His kingdom. So if your lifestyle is contrary to God, I ask that you humble yourself and repent. Come unto Jesus and allow His blood to cover you this day. His mercy is for you.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I know that pride is a plague in not only many people in the world but also in the Christian community. I am also not absent from this. When sin strikes a person down, it is much easier to see how proud you once were and how much more I need You. Yes, God, I hate to fall into sin but when I get full of pride it is hard not to. As much as I want Your armor to cover me, day in and day out, I am not protected when I speak so highly of myself and what I am doing and not of You. How arrogant I have been and I am so sorry Lord. I come to You with a humble heart and ask that You come in and cast out any pride still left in my life. I only want to lift You up and lower myself. May Your mighty hand do a great work in my life. Build up my life with Your armor, that I may not fall victim to sin and darkness. Your ways are higher and I wish to never fall back into my own foolish ways again. I love You more Jesus. You are the way to eternal life and I will follow You till the end. You are my hope and I trust in You. I praise You Lord above all things. I love You. Amen.
